I should avoid watching films of books that I have enjoyed!
Well in this case I certainly should.
I can remember back, gosh must be nearly thirty years now, reading the book ?Flowersin The Attic?, by Virginia Andrews.
I was utterly enthralled and had to stay up until 4.00 in the morning as there was no way I could sleep until I had finished the book.
So when I saw the DVD of the film on sale at Amazon for around £2, I snapped it up.
I sat down with a bottle of wine and much anticipation, only to be left feeling cheated and disappointed.
This review is written from the view of someone who has read, and loved, the book, maybe someone watching the DVD as a ?Flowers Virgin? may well enjoy it.

Advantages: A few scarface film samples Disadvantages: Nearly the whole thing
Many people have been influenced by the scarface film and the rap genre has especially referenced to it man songs. This is now an official compilation of songs with money, power and respect themes. as you would imagine, all are rap.
Put together in 2003, this def jam idea includes songs by Nas, Mobb Deep and Notorious BIG, some made especially for the album some old tracks that just fit. None appear in the film but there are samples and dialouge used from the picture.

Advantages: Very well written - fantastic gripping storyline Disadvantages: dragged a tiny bit in the middle
****Book Synopsis***
Flowersin the wind centres around the children of Dollanganger family - 4 children Chris 15 Cathy 12 Cory and Carrie 4. The book starts off with the most perfect idealistic family - the family everybody wants. The mother who stays at home and looks after the children - she is naturally beautifuly in every way and the father who adores the ground his family walk on.
Until one failthful day. The mother prepares a party in preperation for the fathers return only to be greeted by two police officers. The father is dead, and they are now in financial ruin having not prepared for either of them to die at such a young age.
