Advantages: Excellent Movie Sountrack. Disadvantages: None!
memories of this movie and of the time it was released in the charts to me and I just love recalling it all. This track was released in 1985 and reached number 15 in the billboard charts. The music video to accompany this love song was taken from clips of the St Elmo's Fire movie also. This is an excellent track, that?s an all time favourite to me.
Overall Opinion Of St Elmo's Fire Soundtrack.
Well as you have probably gathered from reading this review, I really love this soundtrack a lot. I have had this original one for over twenty years. I first had it on cassette and then upgraded it to CD. It really looks a bit tatty on it, but that?s because it has been played a lot by me over the years, as I love it so much. This CD was one of the first movie soundtracks that really caught my attention because of the great meanings all the songs ...
Advantages: A great musical mix! Disadvantages: The Shane West track!
On seeing the movie I immediately craved the soundtrackto go with it. The movie had the most enjoyable mix of melodic rock sounds and pure pop candy from mandy Moore herself.
You can't go wrong with Switchfoot for lyrics and throwing in a few tracks of theirs really made you think further about what the film meant. The only mistake in this OST is that there just isn't ENOUGH Switchfoot. Switchfoot open with "Dare you to move", it's got to be a favourite. It prepares you for what's to come afterwards.
Having the Mandy tracks on the CD give it an equal balance and give it that "good girl next door" feel to it, as well as having the edgy songs that may reflect Shane West's character. Speaking of Shane, "So What Does It All Mean" is a track performed by his band Jonny Was, also known as "West, Gould & Fitzgerald". This for me, was ...
Advantages: Andrew Lloyd Webber AND Jim Steinman Disadvantages: If you have not seen the musical it may not make sense
The book was written by Mary Hayley Bell and the original film starred Hayley Mills. The film was set in this country in the industrial north but the musical is set in deep south of America.
The story is about a motherless family, the eldest of whom - Swallow, finds a strange man in the barn. She asks him who he is and his reply "Jesus Christ" shocks her. The wounds on his feet lead her and the other children to believe this man is Christ who has come back and he begs them to hide him.
Naturally they do and the music then follows the story with some very powerful music.
The local bad boy is about to flee north with his black girlfriend - shock horror in the south in those days. But really he fancies Swallow.
Swallow growing up without her mum is vulnerable to any soft soap. Her young brother 'Poor baby' is just rebellious ...
