Not a 'Fly' in this ointment

Advantages: Refreshing, energetic, Country with soul
Disadvantages: I struggle to see (hear) any

Following the success of their hugely successful debut album 'Wide Open Spaces' the Dixie Chicks second album 'Fly' is yet another phenomenal collection of songs. Personally I didn't think it were possible for them to replicate the amazing sound of the first album with tracks such as 'There's Your Trouble', 'You were mine' and the title track itself 'Wide open spaces'. Here for the Party by Gretchen Wilson

Advantages: Play - When you need to get yourself a big "Hell, Yeah!"
Disadvantages: Don't Play - To feminists or lesbians.

I was driving through North Norfolk about five years ago and a track called "Redneck Woman" came on the radio. To hear such a funny song in such an appropriate location stuck in my head and I finally hunted down the album. Gretchen Wilson is a bit like Dolly Parton without the sugar. Aside from the stand-out Redneck anthem she serves us with some excellent, feisty country music from the female (albeit the Christian-American-Redneck female) perspective. ...
...is a gorgeous love song with an adulterous counter-current, "Homewrecker" is a lovely bitch-on-bitch diatribe and of course the stompin' "Redneck Woman" which should become a staple of Hen Parties everywhere (and not just North Norfolk). But my favourite is her ode to boozing called "When it Rains (I Pour)". ...

Nuevas Senoritas!!

Advantages: Fantastic selection of Rock, Country and Folk
Disadvantages: one bad song "You've got to Show"

This has become my second favourite Indigo Girls album in a very short space of time. My fave is and will always be "Come on Now Social" because it is where my obsession began, but to be honest, the songs on "Become You" are better. The lyrics are meatier and more eloquent and the tone is more reflective and slightly melancholy. However, this is not a downbeat album that you can put on and listen to while sobbing into your Horlicks after a poo day ...
