Love, genocide, social injustice, parenthood - moving, evocative

Advantages: Wide scope of subject, moving lyrics, great music
Disadvantages: Becoming rare

+++++ Music reviews don’t earn the writer a single penny regardless of what rates are awarded. You may want to bear this in mind when rating. On the other hand, it’s taken quite a bit of time to write and edit this review! +++++ Note that the title of t ...

Value for Money

A night at the (Sydney) opera (House) - and Royal Albert Hall

Advantages: Great collection of earlyish Ralph, thought provoking, warm
Disadvantages: May be difficult to source

Advantages: Quality songwriting and arrangements
Disadvantages: Maybe a little dated in parts

McTell is in fine form in this often overlooked album, his songwriting evoking personal experiences as well as the metaphysical, and looking far beyond the folk world for musical inspiration. The arrangements switch from minimal accompaniment to rock ba ...
