Advantages: Valhalla - absolutely the best song on this album and worth all the money Disadvantages: some weaker songs "Hall of the King", "Damned for all Time"

I'm continuing now in the album history of Blind Guardian and will now tell you something about their second release titled "Follow the Blind". The album was recorded and also released on No Remorse Records in 1989 and contained ten tracks.
The music was not too different from the melodic speed metal Blind guardain played on their debut, "Battalions of Fear" though but the sound could be improved. The album starts with a monk chant singing some Latin lines I can't recall right now. "Banish from Sanctuary" is the name of the opener: A fast and hard song with a great chorus. this song has been played live for many times since then and is still a classical tune.
Hansi's voice was a little bit better than on the debut album, as you can hear on some high screams and Blind Guardian used choirs in their refrains more often than they did on the debut. Still fast and heavy songs ruled the album: "Hall of the King", "Fast to Madness" and "Damned for all Time" are tunes where you can easily bang your head to. The titletrack showed a more epic side of the band: "Follow the Blind" was in midtempo and offered a mixture of e-guitars and accoustic ones. There's also another instrumental on the CD entitled "Beyond the ice": Nice, but nothing special...
The best song by far on this album is without a doubt "Valhalla". It is heavy, pounding and the refrain is the best the band has written so far. Still a classic song in concerts you can hear the whole audience singing along the lines: "Valhalla, deliverance... have you ever forgotten me?"
The last track of the album is of a funny nature: Blind Guardian did a cover of the Beach Boys "Barbara Anne"!!! They had some guest singers for that track and it's always fun to see people's reaction when they listen to that tune for the first time! As the fans loved this song it still ends every Blind Guardian concert with a great party, the fans jumping and dancing and singing along "Barbara Anne"...
The cover was done by Waay Design who also did the cover for the debut and shows the dark guardian, who appeared on most of the following releases, for the first time.
Though there are way better album by Blind Guardian "Follow the Blind" is still a good album compared with other band's works.
Advantages: Valhalla and the covers that might interest collectors Disadvantages: Not such amazing tracks
This is the second album of one of the best known power metal bands, Blind Guardian.
This album is of pure powermetal and will sound strange to newer fans of the band that are used to the more symphonic inclinated nightfall on middle earth and a night at the opera (among others), but you will not find it strange since this album is from 1989.
The first track is an interesting monk choir that might sound familiar to ppl that saw monty pytons quest ... ...for all time stand out of the other has great power metal songs with very catchy choirs (valhalla mostly).
Don't break the cricle is a wanderfull metal song, extremely catchy with beautifull guitar sounds.
Fast to madness is another song with great choir (ride...fast..to madness) and very interesting lyrics. Has a long time fan of the Beach Boys I loved the metal cover of barbara anne, very funny and interesting.
Recomended to die hard fans of ...

Advantages: 12 great songs, great atmosphere, sound quality is really good, many pix in the booklet Disadvantages: of course the quality of the songs is not as good as in a studio recording... so there's just one negative point: No new songs... *g*
After the release of the brilliant "Somewhere fay beyond"-album BlindGuardian toured in Japan for the very first time. Of course it was something very special to the band and as their album had sold very well in the land of the rising sun they decided to record their both shows in Tokyo for a livealbum.
The album starts out with the intro of BlindGuardian's second album, "Follow the Blind": "Inquisition" is playd as the intro and you can already hear the fans in Tokyo screaming for their idols. As soon as the band starts off with "Banished from Sanctuary" it seems like all doors of hell break looss and the crowd just goes on partying all the time.
The sound of the recording is really good and you can clearly hear all the solos, the mighty riffing and Hansi is good at voice. He just could better up his English a bit, remarkable ...
