...The Complete Stone Roses is a compilation album of some of the greatest moments in the Stone Roses career. It includes brilliant songs such as FoolsGold and Elephant Stone and also great b-sides such as Standing Here and Where Angels Play. The fact that many of these songs are b-sides gives a pointer to how good the roses actually were. All the songs jump out at first and after repeated listen the deep, old testament infused lyrics starts to bury under the skin.
However, the album would have been a lot better if some tracks form the Second Coming had been included. Obviously this was for contractual reasons but it would have been nice....

Advantages: AVAILABLE ON MANY EYE PLEASING FORMATS Disadvantages: RIVETING IN THE DAY, BUT NOW .... OK
...In it's suggestively psychedelic sleeve, depicting the Roses stood / falling, next to a swirly spiral, the sleeve itself even hyped up this mediocre release.
This has been released on ltd cd, coloured 12" vinyl, as part of a doubled release package, having being coupled with 'FoolsGold', and finally, I think, as a pretty picture disc cd clock.
When it first came out , the Stone Roses faithful scurried out to ensure their copy was safely in their grasp.
Then it began to circulate on green vinyl. And then the inevitable Silvertone unit shifting machine shoved it down our necks again, coupling it with 'FoolsGold', just to make it that little bit more appealing. The last time I bought this was in the form of a very nice clock, with detachable fingers, so you could listen to the interview after all your toiling with the fidgety thing...

...Official - The Stone Roses are the best band ever.
If you want proof all you need to do is listen to this 21 song collection of all their singles (A+B sides) released by Silvertone records.
The songs are arranged chronicalogically in order they were produced, although "Waterfall" and "I am the Resurrection" were only released as cash ins by Silvertone after the band left the label.
The order of the singles shows that initially with "So Young" they were just an average indie band, but then a couple of years later they emerged fully fledged with "Sally Cinaman". The string of shimmering guitar tracks that follows - Elephant Stone, Made of Stone, She bangs the Drum show why the Roses will always be fondly remembered. The next single "FoolsGold" was the break through track and whilst still good also sounds the most dated. The collection...
