Advantages: Great listening,Richard Burton. Disadvantages: None (though perhaps a bit dated for the younger listener)
...voice has a mesmerising quality that draws you into the whole experience; along with Jeff Wayne’s musical composition he sets the tone of the whole album.
The music is big, bold, and orchestral at times and completely in keeping with the whole venture.
The Lyrics for the songs, written by Gary Osborne and Paul Vigrass, capture the essence and romance of Well’s original story, even if Wayne has played around with the characterisation a wee bit, (in the book the narrator tells the story of his brother, the journalist, whilst here Burton plays the part of the journalist as the narrator himself) but it doesn’t matter a jot, this isn’t trying to be just an audio book, it’s a musical experience using a well known story as a theme, so a little tweaking is allowed and does no harm.

Advantages: Just a fantastic album. Sheer quality. Disadvantages: none.
...Last year Pure saw Eighties King, Gary Numan, make a triumphant entry into the new millennium. No retro- eighties stylings here, rather a full circle of influences taking him to a new place. 15 years ago Numan was inspiring the likes of Trent Resnor, Burton C Bell, and a whole raft of other people, who then spun off into the dark 'n' heavy hinterland, well away from the shiny pop world Numan had started out in. The turn of the century spun the wheel so it was them influencing him. 1999 saw Numan working in collaboration with the guys of Industrial-metal behemoths Fear Factory to produce the truly stunning cover of Cars. If you've seen the adverts for American Express Blue card recently - you've heard the beginning of that cover version. Halloween 1999 he made a guest appearance at Fear Factory's gig to perform it live at the Brixton...

Advantages: You could buy it to laugh at? But otherwise...none. Disadvantages: It's the worst record in history.
...I was never a Take That fan, and I am not a Gary Barlow fan either! What is wrong with this man? Why can't he just give up? No one buys his music, and this song is just the pits. Take That were rubbish, and Gary Barlow is rubbish. So Robbie Williams took off, and became very famous and well known, but just because Robbie is good, doesn't mean Gary Barlow is going to be good. Ok, so he was lead singer in Take That, and when they split up everyone assumed that he would be the one out of the five that would carry on a solo career, but things changed, and they went well for Robbie and not for Gary...so Gary mate, give up! This song is rubbish, and if you wanna make some money, start working on a cruise ship, and maybe you'll get spotted by the BBC....
