bass, drums, percussion).Recorded at Record Plant, California.Signed to a hefty record contract while still in his teens, Prince was only 19 when he wrote, produced ...
Advantages: metallica produce yet another classic album Disadvantages: rubbish artwork, lack of lyrics again
...This album has several brilliant Metallica songs on it.
The best of the CD are 'Devils Dance', 'Prince Charming', 'Fuel', 'Better than you' and 'Unforgiven 2'.
Metallica brilliantly mix hard rock classics with the storng ballads such as unforgiven 2, this is an absolutely classic track, even better, IMO than the first Unforgiven and that says something as that is a classic song.
All 13 tracks are very good, the only exception in my opinion is 'Fixxxer' which seems a little flat, but the explosive tracks liek Devils dance, Better than you and Prince charming well more than make up for it.
Metallica haven't gone soft, there harder than ever....

Advantages: A really feel-good album Disadvantages: I actually believe this is TOO good
...The film works really well as a showcase of these songs. It has no other purpose, because, let's face it, music is where Prince's talent lies, not acting. But boy, is this music good!
This is one of my favourite Prince albums, mainly because it's just so uplifting. You put the disc in the player, hit play, and you smile. It's that kind of album.
There is a really good ratio of ballads to upbeats, loads of guest appearances (making this album increadibly diverse), and none of it is too cheesy (remarkable for the era!).
I genuinely cannot recommend one track above any other as being the "stand-out track", but "Thieves in the Temple" is truly beautiful, and "New Power Generation" will get you up dancing.
Oh, and if you are a Prince fan, give the movie a try too. It's nice to have a visual companion for Graffiti Bridge - it only enhances...

Advantages: Well, it's by Prince, isn't it?!?! Disadvantages: But it's not to everyone's taste...
...This is a really tricky album to review. Apart from Crystal Ball (which is going to be delivered within the next week. Good ol' internet...), my husband and I have virtually the entire Prince back catalogue. So what did we think of this album?
Well, I like it, and he's still not entirely convinced. To be fair, it took me a while too, but give it a chance, and it's an orginal and entertaining play.
As with all Prince albums, there are certain tracks that stand out as being superior to the rest. My personal favourites are 1+1+1=3 , Family Name and The Everlasting Now. These are the more upbeat tracks, and are unmistakably Prince.
There's an interesting narration that runs through the album, kind of like the whole "Welcome to the Dawn" thing on Gold. Interesting, or annoying, depending on how biased you are as a Prince fan.
Overall...

Advantages: Do Me Baby, great love song Disadvantages: Too many fillers
...Looking back, Controversy really doesn't seem to fit as the album realised before 1999. You really wonder where 1999 came from after this. But why should we be surprised? Prince has been doing this all his career.
Controversy is a good album but not one of Prince's best.(In my opinion). Some of the tunes are absolute belters, some are nothing more than funky fillers.
The title track is a good one and I still enjpy listening to it today. The sands of time have been fairly kind to this.
The track of the album,as far as I'm concerned, is the beautiful kinky love song, 'Do me Baby'. It is a wonderful song to listen to and even better to be romantic too. Prince thumps out a heavy beat and repeats how he wants his baby to do him over and over. It is Prince's equivalent to Madonna's 'Justify my love'.
'Private Joy' is a song about...

Advantages: prince is back to his best form Disadvantages: none
...This album is for everyone who enjoyed Prince when they were teenagers (early 80s).
The first song on the album made me stand up in my own living room and move those hips that have been static for way too long! I have kept moving around the room throughout the all 12 songs.
Afterwards, I listened to it again, this time paying attention to the lyrics. I was moved by the words of ‘Cinnamon Girl’ and laughed to the words of ‘On the couch’.
Over the years there were many stories about Prince, about his change of name, change of religion, change of his record label, and I have to admit I did loose an interest in his songs, and for a long time didn’t want to buy any of his music.
For anyone who liked Prince’s old stuff (remember ‘Purple Rain’ or ‘Kiss’?) but couldn’t listened to some of his other songs, this album is for you, funky yet...

Advantages: A Return to form, Accessable Disadvantages: Not much of a progression from his previous work
...The best thing about this album is that unlike every Prince album for the past decade or so it doesn't sound like Prince is trying to prove some point or other. Instead he is relaxing and doing what he does best, entertaining! The lyrics are his usual. Love, bragging and dippy philosophy!
He also mentions the War On Terror but his take on it is to encourage fairly vague peace and love vibes and unlikely to offend one way or the other.
The album recalls his eighties classics although it never quite reaches those peaks. Highlights include "Cinnamon Girl", the stately "A Million Days" and the funky title track. Although he has become a Jehovah's Witness he proves that being religious doesn't mean you cant be sexy. Especially on the track "On The Couch"
Prince plays and produces everything himself and the album's main weakness is that he...
