When Spice World was released by the Spice Girls about 3 years ago few people would have reckoned on the followup album not being released until the end of the year 2000, but for one reason or another this is how it has turned out. The album gets off to a cracking start with R'n'B track Holler and continues on a high note through track 2 to the third song 'Let Love Lead The Way' (my personal favorite). 'Brilliant' you think, its as good as an album 3 years in the making should be. Unfortunately not. Later songs fail to spark any sort of rela intrest and occasion are almost dire. There are some nice tracks with some catchy sections, but nothing that stands out as a potential future hit. Who knows what they'll find to release as their next single. The last track 'Goodbye' (christmas No1 two years ago) is certainly a high note to go out on, but a couple of good songs don't save the album from falling into the trap of 'mediocre'. Maybe they should all stick to their solo efforts, which have for the most part been far better.

Advantages: The lyrical genius, slick harmonies, smashing productions and catchy melodies. Disadvantages: The lack of pop/disco songs which make the spice girls, the spice girls.
