The Forgotten Arm is Aimmee's latest release, and unusually for Aimee, this one is a concept album. However, it is only conceptual lyrically; we're not going for sonic soundscapes a la radiohead, for example. The album focuses on the career of a long forgotten boxer, and the songs track his story, mostly through thid person narrative (maybe Aimee's own?). I'm not a fan of concept albums-- very few seem to work that well. ... ...who've actually invested in the disc, instead of downloading it off Kazaa, or something. Don't let that put you off, though. The Forgotten Arm is a perfect introduction to Aimee, and from your first listen you will ask yourself what the hell you've been missing for so long. ...

Album Notes: Fifth studio album from Virginia-born singer songwriter Aimee Mann. Produced by Joe Henry and recorded in just five days, the album has a laid back minimalist feel to it. Blending influences of alternative country rock with her own unique bluesy style, this album offers a stripped down sound not heard from Mann previously.
