Enrolling into the newly founded St.Petersburg Conservatory after taking a job as a clerk in the St.Petersburg Ministry of Justice, Tchaikovsky was not slow in attracting the attention of Balakirev. Beginning with some smaller scale piano and string quartet works, Tchaikovsky's first, truly ambituous work came in the form of his First Symphony ("Winter Daydreams") of 1866, which almost caused him a nervous breakdown. Advantages: poppy tracks that will have you smiling Disadvantages: not a whole lot of diversity between tracks
...Having heard a number of good things about this bands live performance from friends, I decided to purchase the album a couple of weeks after it's release. I can safely say I'm glad that I did. Dartz! are not doing anything new, but the presentation and arrangement of their new wave indie is close to perfection. The off-beat rhythms are enough to get even my mums head nodding and smiling along, the lyrics are inoffensive and almost as fun as the music and the chorus hooks are memorable enough to have you humming them for weeks.
The band seem to have taken a lot of inspiration from all of the upbeat 'fun' moments in Bloc Party's first album and created a whole album of exciting floor-fillers.
Highlight tracks include 'Once! Twice, Again!' , StPetersburg' and most recent single 'Fantastic Apparatus'.

Originally, Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov was not going to pursue music, instead leaning towards a naval career. While he did indeed go on to work in the Navy, first going to the Navel Cadet College in St. Petersburg and then sailing as a midshipman on a 2 and a half year long cruise starting in 1862, music was a major force in his life.
He had shown some musical ability even as a very small child. Just before he set out on the cruise in 1862 he met a man named Balakirev who was a great influence on him (and many other famous musicians of that time), this influence increased upon his return. He found that on shore there was more time for music and he started writing some of his early compositions.
