...It would be a hard task to find an album more chilled than this offering from George Michael. From the opening bars of Jesus To A Child to the closing moments of Free, Older floats dreamily in what may well be music heaven. Although the tempo ups slightly for the songs Fastlove and Star People, the pulse never rises above seventy beats per minute. And this is no bad thing; with songs such as the delightfully bitchy Spinning The Wheel and the incredibly touching You Have Been Loved, not to mention the gorgeous title track, Older positively oozes class. And you’d expect nothing less than that from George Michael, really....

My favourite track: "Atom Bomb" by Fluke..a dark, pulsating stylish thriller, also comes armed with a great vibe....

Advantages: Maximo Park improve on debut album Disadvantages: None
...Maximo Park's debut, "A Certain Trigger" was an impressive statement of intent. Their second album "Our Earthly Pleasure" is a significant step forward and should attract many more admirers.
The all male five peice from Newcastle have created some tremendous melodies and they continue to enhance the established reputation they have for great Live shows. The new single "Our Velocity" sits comfortably with 11 other tracks which could easily be released as singles too.
Highlights from the second album include "Books from Boxes" and "Russian Literature", strong melodies backed up with accomplished guitar riffs and keyboards. "By the Monument" and
"Karaoke Plays" are spirited indie romps, with Paul Smith's vocals more assured and confident.
A mature but energetic album comes to a close with "Sandblasted and Set Free" , a Maximo style...
