Advantages: Well-written
Disadvantages: No plot, no likeable characters, much too long

I came to Donna Tartt?s second novel, ?The Little Friend? with great expectations. I had read and thoroughly enjoyed her first book, ?The Secret History?, winner of numerous prizes, one of BBC?s 100 best reads and deserving recipient of the rare accolade ?Modern Classic? so I was looking forward to reading her second effort, which had taken some ten years after the first to come to fruition. Unfortunately, I was disappointed ? extremely disappointed. ?The Little Friend? starts out with promise. The tranquil existence of a normal family, the Dufresnes, living in Mississippi, is shattered by the brutal murder of their eldest child, twelve year-old Robin, who is found hanging from a tree in the garden one summer?s afternoon. A classic Christie

Advantages: The usual suspense,and the twists and turns
Disadvantages: It is good , but it is not her best

There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune: Omitted, all the voyage of their life Is bound in shallows and in miseries... Shakespeare, Julius Caesar IV, iii, 217 Agatha Christie is at her best while describing the English way of life....This is yet another early and interesting Hercule poirot mystery written by Agatha Christie.The story is set in a typical English village with all the humor and descriptions of everyday English village life.. THE STORY It begins with a lot of promise with these opening paragraphs.. " In every club, there is a club bore, the Coronation club was no exception....Major Porter, Late Indian army rustled his newspaper and cleared his throat, and everyone avoided his eye, but no use..."
