Advantages: Great sound, sturdy, easy to use Disadvantages: Only runs off mains power
played on a CD player.
It is almost unbeleivably easy to use. From opening the box to playing my favourite tracks took a grand total of about 30 seconds. It's as simple as; put the correct size of iPod point in the dock, plug in the power cable, put the iPod in the dock and away you go. And, it would probably (for the sake of emphasis) be good for me to point out here, that to all intents and purposes, I am completely technologically inept (I can't even change a plug!!). Anyhow, if someone like me can plug and play this magnificent device, anyone can!!!
There are three drawbacks with the sound-dock. Neither of them are particularly alarming. The first is that, whenever you turn it off at the plug, when turned back on, it automatically goes to full volume. On a few occasions, this has left me frantically stabbing at the control ...
Advantages: stylish, perfect clarity, long lasting, valuable remote Disadvantages: none
In my opinion the Bose sounddock was a great spend. I was looking for a quality product to enable me to listen to my iPod. I shopped around and tried out a few other speakers, e.g. JBL onstage. The Bose sound was remarkable. It was so clear it was unbelievable. I got a surround sound feeling whilst listening to the speakers and there was no sign of the low hum or odd crackle one sometimes finds accompanies certian speakers.
I have now had my Bose speakers for a year. One year on and they still look new (the newer model still looks the same) and the sound is still clear and precise.
It is very easy to function and from my point of view speakers which come without a remote are an uneccesary hassle, fortunately the Bose Sounddock comes with a very well equipped remote. Not too small to lose it among you things, and not too large to be ...
Advantages: beautifully written, thought provoking, Disadvantages: scenes of war might be disturbing for some
and damaged people.
The book is called Deafening and it is Granin's loss of hearing that is centre piece. The expertise of the writing made me empathise with Granna in her sometimes lonely soundless world and made me realise the struggles and the fight deaf people had to face for their language and forms of communication to be recognised. It fully illustrated the attitudes of the time. Children in main stream school where neglected and put in the corner whilst those who were lucky enough to get specialised education were sent away to institutions where contact with family was minimal and their prospects in the world of employment were limited. What really impressed me was how easy it was to get into Granina's mind to see her puzzlement over language and sound. I felt the loneliness and frustration she felt whilst trig to communicate ...
