So many of my friends and family recommended I try a John Grisham novel, so I finally did. I saw this book in the market and at 50p so I thought I couldn't go wrong.

John Grisham was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas in the USA in 1955. His first book called 'A Time To Kill' was written in 1989.Since then he has become recognised as one of the Worlds best selling novelists. So far he has written 18 novels, including 'Bleachers', which was first published in 2004.

Transmissions is the second LP The Flaming Lips recorded for Warner Bros., just a year after their debut on that label (Hit To Death In The Future Head). It was also their first record to achieve a notable chart position (#108 in the U.S.), and given the unusual title and content (the third track's subtitle is 'Labia In The Sunlight), that remains quite a feat. Those of you who have heard The Lips before will know that it's an acquired taste but well worth the listen.
1. Turn It On: An immense opener, stating the intention of the album from the very beginning. Drozd's drums pound the ears, while Jones' psychedelic, distorted guitars swirl in and out carefree. Coyne's lyrics give the song a singalong quality, while backing is provided expertly by other members. Pure genius.

Advantages: Humorous and exciting read. Disadvantages: Could be a bit difficult to understand the Scots 'slang' for English and foreign readers.

I was recently engaged in one of my more pleasurable part-time pursuits of browsing the shelves of my local bookshop, when I picked up his fifth novel, ‘Boiling A Frog’, on the bargain counter at only €6.35. (reduced from €15)
A quick glance through the pages revealed its Caledonian nature and content, and that was enough to get me delving into the old pocket, and dusting the cobwebs of my wallet.
