Advantages: Brilliant location, modern rooms, clean and friendly. Disadvantages: None I can really think of, if I had to mention something it'd be the pricey internet.
the bathroom is below the expected standard, that was not the case here though. I got a good sleep, and the hotel was quiet.
The bar
The bar area was nice, the prices were expensive but not out of place inLondon. two large glasses of wine was around £14.00, the cost was added onto my bill so that I could pay for it at check-out. I didn't have breakfast as it wasn't included with the free night and was around £20.00 for a continental and cooked breakfast, so I went across the road to starbucks and got a bite to eat, at a much better price (croissant and coffee was about £3.50)
Overall verdict
This is a brilliant hotel for London and I would certainly recommend it for when you are inLondon, the location is good for getting about, it is easy to walk to sites such as tate modern and parliament from the hotel, also if you want a taxi ...
Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey
stacked high with a traditional beef or lamb or turkey (or all three!) roast, carved by a very friendly and funny chef who served us.
As mentioned earlier, Covent Garden is less than 5 minutes walk away (the tube station a couple of minutes more), and most of the theatres are within 5 minutes walk. It was an ideal place to stay. During the day we did the cheesy tourist thing and got on one of the tour buses (a stop is just around the corner from the hotel). We also went on the London eye, but got to this using the tour bus, but I believe it is around 15 minutes walk from the hotel.
All in all a good central location for siteseeing and theatre breaks, hence giving it a recommendation, but a little disappointed in the room (especially after paying for a "club" upgrade). If you've stayed in a typical Londonhotel before then the style ...
Advantages: Lovely surroundings, (mainly) delicious tea. Disadvantages: Poor service
An enjoyable, but disappointing for the cost, afternoon tea at The Savoy.
The location is ideal, on the Strand adjacent to Covent Garden, an easy walk from several tube stations and on several bus routes.
The facade of the hotel and the lobby are beautiful, as is the lounge area where tea is taken. During tea, a pianist plays, which is a lovely accompaniment, although some of the songs seemed a bit modern given the setting!
Unfortunately the service was not what you would expect. We waited quite a long time for various things and staff could be seen chatting in the corners while people waited etc.
There was an excellent choice of tea and the option to try as many as you wished. The Savoy blend which we chose was delicious, apart from our last pot, which didn't seem to have been brewed freshly and came out grey ...
