I recently decided to look right through my tape collection and found this. It was also released on CD in 1998. Of course, a newer collection, "The Essential Paul Young" has just been released but "From Time To Time" is a good compilation.
The track listing is as follows:
1. Every Time You Go Away 2. Come Back And Stay 3. I'm Only Foolin' Myself 4. Senza una Donna 5. I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down 6. Broken Man 7. Everything Must Change 8. Wonderland 9. Don't Dream It's Over 10. Love Of The Common People 11. Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home) 12. Both Sides Now 13. Oh Girl 14. Softly whispering I Love You
My personal favourites are the cover of Daryl Hall's "Everytime You Go Away" and the angst-ridden "Wherever I Lay My Hat". I enjoy the R and B tinged "I'm Only Fooling Myself" and "Everything Must Change".
"Wherever I Lay My Hat" was originally the B-side to Marvin Gaye's "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" and was meant to be happy-go-lucky celebration of a love 'em and leave 'em types. I think I prefer Paul's guilty wailings on his ballad version.
"Oh Girl" is a smashing cover of a Chi-lites tune, "Senza Una Donna" is a cover of a song Zucchero already released in Italy. Zucchero apparently means "Sugar" in Italian, fact fans!
"Don't Dream It's Over" is a Crowded House cover, featuring Neil Finn himself. There's also a cover version of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" recorded with Clannad.
The covers may not be original but the arrangements are fantastic.
Paul's voice is fantastic and there is a variety of tunes on this collection. There is a great in-lay card with a forward by Paul himself.
The tape cost me £7.99 and the CD is available on Amazon for the same price. I expect it's available cheaper on Ebay and similar websites.

He's playing at the Fish Quay festival in North Tyneside, I am tempted to go as I used to like his stuff.

Although I too like Paul Young, I would’ve liked to have read more that told me what kind of music I could expect from this album and maybe a bit more background info on him taking us from 1991 onwards. ~Sharon
