Ok Fall Out Boy are a band I really like, some of you who are into your music may have known them for a while but those who are not so into their music will probably just have heard of them recently. Fall Out Boy got their name from a Simpson's character which doesn't sound like much but they asked the crowd at a show what they should be called, a fan said it and it stuck.
The band are made up of four members. they are Patrick Stump, he sings and plays guitar, Pete Wentz bassist and lyricist, Andrew Hurley (Andy mostly), drums and Joe Trohman on guitar. They are out of the Chicago music scene and a few members had been playing in more hardcore bands for a while but all met up and decided to start a band.
They released a first album called Evening Out With Your Girlfriend but this was done without Andy so the band don't really call it their first album. They then released Take This To Your Grave which was what got them more known and was an album given good reviews from the critics. Last year they releast From Under The Cork Tree and ever since the release of the single Sugar We're Goin Down have been big in America.
So From Under The Cork Tree their latest is still a pop punk type album but with a more mainstream sound. Take This To Your Grave was more real pop punk and I loved it. I don't like this album as much but I do like the fact that every song is so different from the next. Pete has always been talented with his lyrics, they are witty but deep in meaning as well and he is just skilled at what he does. Their song titles also tend to be long it's an ongoing thing they seem to do but I usually abbreviate them in some way. As do many people with this album, I always refer to it as FUCT, I know it is immature but easiet to say.

Below I am going to give a summary of a coupe of the songs on the album
OUR LAWYERS- This song is instantly catchy and I liked it as soon as I heard it. The noise of camera's flashing begins then the guitar playing at the start brings the intro then the music starts up. 'Take My Advice Cause We Are Bad News', 'It's Not Worth The Hearing You'll Lose' are all the kind of lines from this song. This song is to me a song about them summing themselves up as a band and how they are almost like a trend that are 'in' to like. The singing is good in this song, strong and fits in with the music. I love the line that says 'besides we've got such good fashion sense', only in a Fall Out Boy album would you hear those kind of lyrics.
DANCE DANCE-This is such a catchy song I was in love as soon as I heard it. It's the second single from the album, it's not released here yet but will be. The video for this song is like the band going back to high school looking like geeks and then it's like a high school dance and how they all act at it, search it on google and watch it. The song is probably as pop as the album gets. The drum and bass start off the song and you'll find yourself tapping your feet then it begins. Singing also great, the high notes are hit really well in this song, Patrick does a great job. The bridge to this song is so catchy, quick paced and jumpy. The chorus is really lively. This song I get the idea is about them saying to those who never thought they could make it that they would now want to be them as well as it being about a relationship. Sometimes their lyrics are easy to make one clear meaning of.
SUGAR WE'RE GOIN DOWN-This is their first single from the album, released in the UK this week. It's an unusual song. The chorus is catchy but the video is strange. This song is sometimes what the band say is a song about their progress so far or finding the right lyric but what Pete always introduces it on stage about is pleasuring yourself. If you listen to the lyrics 'we're goin down down in an earlier round and sugar we're goin down swingin' you start to think oh I see how it could mean that. 'Watching you two from the closet wishing to be the friction in your jeans' has to be the most popular line from the song. It's an easy going song, nothing amazing, the chorus will stick. It's not a rock song, very pop. I liked it at first but then went off it.
CHAMPAGNE FOR MY REAL FRIENDS- This song has an amazing guitar intro then the singing starts and it is really catchy. I like the chorus lyrics 'strike us like matches, cos everyone deserves the flames, we only do it for the scars and stories not the fame'. Those lines pretty much explain what the song is about, that there's not enough chances in the world for everyone to get as famous as they'd like. It's again just a sort of easy listening song, catchy enough, relaxing.
A LITTLE LESS SIXTEEN CANDLES- This is tipped to be the 3rd single from the album. This is a very upbeat song. This is about a relationship, mistakes made and how the boy won't take his chance on her although she's trying to get his attention. I like the music to this song, the vocals fit nicely. One of the other songs that instantly stuck out to me, very catchy.
GET BUSY LIVING-This song I like the first half but the talking parts at the end ruin it for me because they're unecessary. It starts off well with the guitar and Patrick's vocals, a song that sounds like it is done with emotion and he reaches all the notes well. This song is like their reaction to how the critics always criticize them and make on that what they're doing isn't important.
XO-Another of the songs I first liked. It's so different from any other song on the album it has a sort of dark feel about it. As to what the song is about I really don't know it starts 'I comb the crowd and pick you out my mouth moves too fast for you to figure it out' I was guessing it was like having a relationship with a fan although it confused me because they're not that kind of band. Again a lot of emotion sung in the song, it's also a song about making choices in life, decisions.
The album is great if you like pop punk and want an album with some variety then you should buy it. I think this band will be big once the next single gets released. I saw them live and they were amazing, all talented guys. I met them also and they seem genuine about what they're doing and to the fans.

...bassist Pete Wentz' humorous ideals from the get-go - "We're only liars, but we're the best (we're the best), We're only good for the latest trends, We're only good cause you can have almost famous friends, Besides, we've got such good fashion sense". Wentz has always been the strength behind the band, lyrically gifted like no other, his mix of humour and self-bashing holds the strength to each and every one of the bands songs since the success of ... ...first single to be released from the record, 'Sugar, We're Going Down' garnered massive airplay in the bands native US, as well as taking up residence on some of London's little known rock stations. I'll be your number one with a bullet, A loaded god complex, cock it and pull it". 'From Under ...

A short while after, I heard a very catchy song on the music channels and, again not knowing who the band was, looked them up on Amazon. It wasn’t until I saw the titles on the album that I realised the bands were one and the same and armed with the knowledge that at least one track was very good and an assurance from my colleague that the rest were just as good, I decided to give the album ... ...line than you would expect from a song of this type and a catchy chorus. This song makes me feel that if Rooster were the next step up from Busted, then Fall Out Boy are the natural next link in that chain.
There’s a nice rock guitar riff opening “Of All the Gin Joints in All the World” before the song goes into the same territory of the previous track. It’s another faced paced rock-pop song with a driving riff that blasts past and a chorus that ...

Advantages: Amazing pop punk, Highly Catchy, Great lyrics, Comical band Disadvantages: Some may be critical of this CDs high production values
Fall Out Boy's last full length release was 'Take This To Your Grave,' and although a lot of people liked this album - I was definitely not one to be considered a fan. This album sees the band develop and mature into something far greater than they were back then, and in developing and maturing their sound, Fall Out Boy have produced a truly incredible album. The other day I reviewed a 5 track sampler of the album, in which I said that if that was ... ...truly something special. It really is something special and I am glad to have gotten hold of a copy before its release this coming Monday.
There are 13 tracks on display on this new album and not a single one of them disappoints. I had a feeling that the label may have put all the good material on the sampler and then the album was going to have 5 good tracks, with a load of average ones. This is definitely not the case and in 'From Under The Cork ...

Advantages: pop-punk at it's best Disadvantages: a little 'same-y'
...Boy are a pop-punk group. From Under The Cork Tree is their third main-stream release, and follows the vein of so many current bands. If you're looking for upbeat, guitar-centred music, with emo, slightly angsty lyrics, then this is the album for you. Includes the massive hits 'Sugar, we're going down' 'Dance, dance' and 'A little less sixteen candles...'.
Each song is melodic, with pleasant guitar riffs, and great vocal talent. Fall Out Boy obviously ... ...this! There are 'emo' influences throughout, particularly in the lyrics. However, Fall Out Boy have thankfully missed a lot of the self-pitying lyrics associated with the genre. There's a lot more metaphor in here than most people realise. For me, the highlights of the album are 'nobody puts baby in the corner' and 'i've got a dark alley...'. There aren't really any filler songs on the album, though i found that i got a litte sick of 'sugar, we're ...

...annoying (although it doesn't detract from the quality of the songs). In brief, an excellent pop punk offering with more than enough heartache and vim to keep fans of the genre interested, with spangly guitars-a-plenty and no song too long that you have to take it as any more than a good fire and forget anthem. Unfortunately I suspect that this release polarised fans somewhat, between the mentalities of 'I liked them better when they were a little ...

Advantages: A couple of decent tunes Disadvantages: Inconsistent
Released in 2005 ?FromUnder The CorkTree? came as the third album from the Emo, Pop Punk band FallOutBoy. Consisting of the likes of Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump and Joe Troughman, they finally found mainstream success when the brought out with album and managed to get some of their singles out to the masses, and it even led to their lead singer and guitarist, Stump, being used on projects from acts which aren?t even directly linked to his genre of music with Lupe Fiasco, the Roots and Tyga all getting some kind of input from him on their albums around this time due to this breakthrough.

Advantages: Great, Upbeat Music Disadvantages: Long Titles
In FallOutBoy's fourth CD, "FromUnder the CorkTree", the titles of the songs are getting longer and longer. Such as "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued", "I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth", "I Slept With Someone In FallOutBoy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me", and "Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part To Save The Scene And Stop Going To Shows.)" It's made up for when you hear the music though. There isn't one song on this track that I do not like. Their first single, "Sugar, We're Going Down" is great, and the 2nd single, "Dance, Dance" is even better. Once you put in this CD and press play, you will not be disappointed, as the tracks move on, it only gets better. My favorite song would have to be "A Little Less Sixteen ...
Advantages: Great to sing along to - musically tight. Disadvantages: Perhaps a little repetitve.
Their second full length release spells stardom for FalloutBoy. They are obviously going to be acused of 'selling out,' on this album, but to be honest, it's so good, who's gonna care?!
The first thing you notice is how long the bloody track names are! Not a bad point, but it often means you end up talking about songs on the album like, 'that one about sueing lawyers,' or 'that one 'bout candles.'
When you pop it into your CD player you notice how goddamn catchy it is! And as you listen through the album, you notice that there are no 'filler,' tracks - this really should be the soundtrack to your summer! Sometimes the lyrics don't make sense...(a loaded God Complex anyone?!), but you'll be too busy singing along to care! Though they are definatley good songs...they dont seem to stray from the tried and tested method of
intro ...
