Having been a fan of Boys 2 men since I first started listening to RnB I thought it was a bit of a crime that no-one had reviewed this album. After taking a long time off and releasing a greatest hits album the original innovators of rnb are back with a great album that reminds you of how good they really are.
The song list can be found below with what I think of the song:
1) Relax your mind feat Faith Evans: Great song and a brilliant start to the album. Quite upbeat, would definately not call it a ballad. Two real old school rnb acts combining to make a very soulfull sound. Chorus is really catchy and the adlibs and vocal tones of B2M really make this very nice to listen to. Faith Evans provides the chorus and she is still as good featuring on songs as ever. My second favourite on the album 10/10
2) The colour of love: If any of you have listened to the classics these guys made and liked them then you will love this song. Reminds me a lot of "End of the road" and is a really strong ballad which meaningfull lyrics which you do not find no-a-days. 9/10
3) Ain't a Thing wrong feat Rob Jackson: Did not quite know what to make of this song when
i first heard it, do not normally like up beat songs when B2M do them as I feel their voices and vocal tones can't really move at that speed. However after listening to this song many a time I really like it now. Rob jackson does a good job on his lyrics but could have done with a stronger name on the track (one that pops to mind would be Ludacris or even Mystical). Club banger though. 8/10
4) Oh Well: Undescribable, I have played this to all my friends and they all were blown away. This track really is so soulfull and the lyrics are brilliant. Another power ballad by the boys but I would go as far as to say this beats "End of the Road" or "i'll make love to you" from the earlier days. Classic 10/10
5) Watcha Need: Although Oh well is brilliant it is still not my favourite on this album. "watcha Need" is a briliiant mid-tempo song with a great beat and quality singing as you would expect again. I always like songs with plenty of vocal gymnastics and adlibs etc which this has in force. Lyrics are great again and makes up my favourite song on this album. 10/10
6) On the road again: A personal tale of how the boys are back travelling and making music again after the earlier days and a smooth mid-tempo sound again. I find the song fades a bit after 2mins and gets a bit repetitive and slow. Not one of the best. 7/10
7) Making love: (Interlude)
8) Roll wit me: I find this song is again not as strong as it should be. Uptempo song which really shows that these boys should stick with the winning formula of slow jams. I think it is because they can not get their voices to move as quick as the beat which makes me not like this as much. Good production and beat though which would be better suited to bands like 112, b2k or jagged edge.
9) Right on Time: Very soulfull, they really use their voices on this track which makes it brilliant again. Has a very 70's beat and James Brown feel which everyone should enjoy! Makes you wanna dance and sing along! Great track after a couple of fillers in the middle 9/10
10) Howz about it: This is the first track i heard before they released this album and it is very good. Up-tempo but they pull this off very well. A feel good song about getting away from your troubles for a while. The chorus is very catchy and you will find this song sticks in your head. I have played this a bit too much now and so I'll give it a 9/10
11) That's why I love you: another ballad! But that is what these boys do and people who are fans will know this. A great track about the reasons why you love that someone and I one to listen to with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Great song but not as good as the earlier ballads on the album. 8/10
12) I'm OK Your OK: Mid tempo song but i feel it is a bit of a filler song for the album. Not really much to say about this one apart from you will probably listen to it but never really remember it. 7/10
13) Luv N U: Good track with great beats and good singing. Again it is about love and will probably tire on you once you have listened to the rest of the album first. 8/10
14) I'll show you: Great and strong finish to the album with what they do best. Good production of this song, the beats match the song and set the tone brilliantly. Lyrics are again powerfull and thought provoking and the singing is so soulfull. A great finish to an overall quality album. 9/10
Artwork: Good artwork although all the boys in the photos are looking their age now!!! Good selection of shots and some lyrics to sing along to which is nice. Nice tribute to the fans inside with their messages as well.
Availability: Available from play cd wow and amazon still (only one in stock though last look) and I think cd wow may have stopped selling it now. general price range from 8.99 cd wow to 12.99 amazon.
Overall: A great album which shows these boys really can still hang with the new boys out there!! I do feel though that considering they had so much time off from the game that they should have produced every song on the album with as much effort and time as they spent on the first five tracks. They did have a few fillers on there but only one interlude which is a breathe of fresh air because some people use these to fill albums as well.
If you like classic B2M songs then you will love this album because it is classic from B2M. Loads of classic ballads which can be tiresome after a while but if you listen to it intermittenly of with your girlfriend/boyfriedns then you will really appriciate how good it is.
