With the new millennium came a new rock star in the shape of Pink, Pink is an American rock star who shot to fame with her outlandish look and her rebel ways and of course her great music.
She has been quiet for a couple of years almost but has arrived back with a bang, bigger and better than ever with her new album "Funhouse".
Funhouse features some great tracks; none more so that her latest huge hit "so what", here is a rundown on the tracks on the album and my opinion on them.
So what - As I say this is her latest hit and even though it has been hugely over played by the radio stations I just can't help but turn it up each and every time it comes on. The song is typical Pink with rebel lyrics and a great beat. 10/10
Sober- This track had to grow on me because after the first few plays it had really done nothing for me but now after many more plays it has reached me and it really is another very good track from the lady herself, still not as good as "So what" but never the less a very good track with decent lyrics and a catchy beat. 8/10
I Don't Believe You - this differs from most of Pink`s tracks in that the rock chick calms down to bring us an acoustic ballad with very good lyrics which she pours loads of emotion into, you can really believe every word
she sings in this song and it is a brilliant track and possibly my favourite on the album. 10/10
One Foot Wrong - the track might be for the true Pink fans only, it is not her best effort by any stretch of the imagination and it is definitely the weakest track on the album. I still play it because it is Pink and I love her but many may not like it at all. 4/10
Please Don't Leave Me - the album bounces back strongly with this track and you soon forget that the previous track was not that good. This track has a great beat and is a real toe tapping top quality tune, the lyrics are a bit down beat as it is about pain but the tempo of the track is very upbeat and it is a great listen and yet another Pink track that allows her to release her emotions through powerful lyrics. 10/10
Bad Influence - This is a decent Pink track but nowhere near some of her best stuff, I love her vocals on this but there is something lacking from the track that I can't quite put my finger on. It is a good song but no better than that really. 6/10
Funhouse - this is the title track for the album which I find to be a bit odd, with so many great tracks on this album to choose to name the album after this one which is one of the weaker tracks seems a bit silly. This is a song that just is not typical Pink and the arrangement of the track does not suit her vocals and this song which does have a very good beat just does not work for her. 5/10
Crystal Ball - very powerful lyrics here and delivered with pure emotion and pain as Pink sings about her divorce. This is an awesome track and for me should have been the title track to the album, it has everything from the fantastic up beat tempo that will have you rocking along to it to the pure emotion and feelings in Pinks vocals. This is a real show stopping track and I cannot wait to see her perform it live. 10/10
Mean - This track is not at all typical Pink, a bit of the rock feel has gone here to make way for a more country type sound but it makes no difference to it being a great track and it shows that Pink can turn her hand to pretty much anything. The vocals are as you would expect "brilliant" and the lyrics are again very powerful and full of meaning, another great track. 10/10
It's All Your Fault - Still not sure what to make of this track even though I have listened to it a million times or so, I like it but I do not love it, it has a nice beat but not a particularly get up and dance beat and the lyrics are not quite as poignant as in some of her other tracks. The vocals are still very good of course and it is a fairly good track, just not great! 7/10
Ave Mary A - Don't really get what Pink is doing with this track but it still sounds good. It is a bit strange and the lyrics are a bit odd but Pinks great voice and the toe tapping beat carry it through well. 7/10
Glitter In The Air - this track is a great way to close an album, this one has probably the best lyrics of them all and is a real sing a long number. Another ballad from Pink which is not what she is best known for but what she is becoming increasingly good at producing. This track makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and it is fast becoming another of my all time favourite pink tracks. 10/10
My over all opinion on this album is that it is yet again another brilliant album from Pink and although I am still not sure about the title I am sure that this will go on to be one of her biggest selling albums if not THE biggest.
There is not really any track that needs to be skipped although as I mentioned "one foot wrong " is nowhere near her best. You can pop this album on in the car and tap your fingers and sing along virtually the whole way through.
This is definitely one of the best albums out this year and if you have a Pink fan in the family then it is a top idea as a Christmas gift this year. If there are no Pink fans in your family then get it for a music fan because any real music fan will most probably love this album too.
It is still a relatively new release and as Christmas is fast approaching I guess stores will have kept it at full price so expect to pay around a tenner for this album but believe me it is worth every penny of that and more.
I never usually write such long reviews but I am very passionate about Pink and very passionate about this album, I hope this has been a good read for you and I hope you like the album as much as I did!!
