guaranteed to give Santa Claus a soul transfusion--and put a little extra kick into that mistletoekiss. While JB spends a fair amount of time pouring his heart out on inspired renditions of favourites such as "Merry Christmas Baby" and "Please Come Home", he and his always-stellar band really shine on a spate of originals that takes Christmas from an idealised holiday and makes it real. They do so in ways that are fun ("Go Power at Christmas Time") or with a dose of social consciousness ("Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto"), but the mere fact that Brown makes it all work--and makes it funky in the process--is a joy to behold.--David Sprague
Album Notes: Producer: James Brown. Compilation producer: Alan Leeds. Recorded at King Studios, Cincinnati, Ohio. One doesn't generally associate the Godfather of Soul with Christmas music, but in fact, James Brown recorded a fair amount of yuletide offerings. This collection of seasonal soul draws its selections mainly from 1968's SOULFUL CHRISTMAS and 1966's JAMES BROWN AND HIS FAMOUS FLAMES SING CHRISTMAS SONGS. This is no schmaltzy holiday fare, though. Though Brown takes a turn at the venerated "Christmas Song," most of the tunes here are original compositions that bear his unmistakable mark. "Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto" (one of Brown's many contenders for best song title of all time) injects a socially conscious message into the proceedings. The blues track "Merry Christmas Baby" turns out to be a natural for Brown, who does his best slow burn on the tune. The lengthy "Let's Make Christmas Mean Something This Year" is a tour de force that features a spoken message from Brown, who revels in the joys of Christmas and urges his listeners to put some genuine thought and emotion into their holiday rituals.
Album Reviews: Entertainment Weekly (12/1/95, pp.70-71) - "...Essential for anyone whose bash needs a jingle-bell backbeat." - Rating: A
Advantages: A strong mix of tracks Disadvantages: Inconsistent
...this to be the best track on the album as it has Sleepy go all out on some funky prodcution (done by himself and Printz Board). This one really gets you moving as he uplifts you with a calming voice, which is very easy on the ear.
**Five Stars**
6. "Me, My Baby, & My Cadillac" (Lude)
7. "Me, My Baby, & My Cadillac"
Personally, I felt very little when I heard this track as it is a rather plain one, in which the Soul singer, Sleepy Brown, does a track by himself. He opts for a slow track about the good things he enjoys in his life (all given in the title).
**Two Stars**
8. "Dance With Me"
Carl Mo gets on the prodcution for this one, and goes for something which would have been more popular around the early 2000s as you get some nice Bounce Music to aid Sleepy as he goes for another funky one, which is held together...

Advantages: Pure James Brown Disadvantages: only 1 disc
...This is a CD containing 20 of JamesBrown's best hits. It has songs ranging from Get Up Offa That Thing to Papa's Got A Brand New Bag, from It's a Man's Man's Man's World to Living In America. The complete track listing is below.
Before i bought this CD i'd only heard of Papa's Got A Brand New Bag (bad for a DJ i know) by JamesBrown's but ever since i bought it i can't get enough of him. It has to be the Funk mix with the soul that does it for me. The best thing was i picked this copy up from some supermarket for a pittence of what it should have been. Only £3.50 ish i think. Is well worth the £10 a high street shop would charge. I believe it is now possible to get pretty cheap copies of the net.
If you love anything James has done you'll love this CD. Highly Recommended. The track list is as follows:

Advantages: Smells fab, works very well, does as it says Disadvantages: Silly lid on the tube
...I apologise for the title!
I am literally always trying to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner and I love trying new brands. I don?t always go for what is necessarily best for my hair; I usually go for what makes me hair smell nice!
I noticed this last time I was in Boots. I like Boots because they do a lot of the travel size mini?s enabling you to try good brands without buying the big ones, spending a fortune and then realising that they are not for you.
JamesBrown isn a favourite hairdresser to the stars, and Kate Moss is a huge fan - if he's good enough for her, he's good enough for me! He is also UK style director for GHD hair products.
This shampoo comes in a very plain and simple white tube. It looks more like a cream than a shampoo; I had to look twice, to check I wasn?t buying more smoothing serum or finishing...
