Advantages: Great sound, very different, interesting guest singers Disadvantages: Not a sound that everyone will find they like
...and feeling even without the lyrics to paint the picture. The addition of a Mideastern guitar into the mix makes it an interesting experience.
Track Twelve:
Tennessee Waltz / Tennessee Mazurka with Tom Jones (3:58)
Here we have another old time popular tune with a different flavor. Tom Jones has an interesting voice to mix with the Irish instruments of the Chieftains. Not a song I would have thought I would have liked. I didn’t like the song to begin with. However, with the different instruments and Tom Jones’ voice, I found myself actually liking this song that I had before not enjoyed. It is something to find a song that you didn’t like before to now be listening to it with a fresh ear and finding that you are enjoying it.

Advantages: Excellent songs and music all the way Disadvantages: The exploitative 'Special Edition' factor
..., but unless regular exposure to them has put you off for life, you should love everything else here. "Don't Say You Love Me" and "Love Gives, Love Takes" send shivers down the spine, the instrumental "Paddy McCarthy" will have you on your feet, and if you thought the combination of the Corrs and the Chieftains on a Hendrix song, "Little Wing" had to be heard to be believed, you'd be right.
Note - this review refers to the 'Special Edition' issue featuring the Tin Tin Out, K-Klass and Tee's Radio remixes. It probably did the group's reputation no good by reissuing the album in more commercially desirable form so soon after the first release, but that's record company marketing for you!...

Advantages: A feast of great tracks to lose yourself in Disadvantages: None
...laundry for her sins, it takes a swipe at religious hypocrysy. It is a powerful and thought provoking track, and sung in Joni Mitchell's unique style.
Raglan Road, a love song, from the male perspective, but sung by Joan Osborne, gorgeous voice.
A Stor Mo Chroi, sung by Bonnie Rait, a traditional piece, about a lover in a far off land.
The Lowlands of Holland, sung by Natalie Merchant, another love song.
The Fiddling Ladies, great track which makes me want to get up and jig! No vocals on this one, very enjoyable and brilliantly played.
Danny Boy, slightly slower than the norm, sung by Diana Krall, a haunting rendition of this timeless song. It features Russel Malone on guitar, Bishop Nathaniel Townsley Jr & Gospel Jubilee Choir, and Malachy Robinson on double bass.
There is a track with a very Japanese flavour called "Sake in The Jar...
