Advantages: Haunting, passionate music to get lost in. Disadvantages: It's classical and this puts people off before they even try it.
...that “the Raphael Ensemble was formed in 1982 by six exceptional string players with a special desire to explore and perform the masterpieces of the quintet and sextet repertoire. Since then they have gained an outstanding reputation for its unique sound quality and immensely high standards of performance.” This recording was voted among the finest of more than 20 recordings of the quintet by Classic CD when it was released in 1995.
Not being a music aficionado I cannot begin to express an opinion on the quality of their work. But I found this recording extremely passionate and beautiful and would really love to see and hear them live because of it. However, I am not sure they are still around because although there is a web site at http://www.raphaels.co.uk/files/raphinfo.html seems to be out of date.

Advantages: A masterclass in arranging and playing Disadvantages: None
..., the lengthy but involving "La Nevada" (another "sketch of Spain"). His piano work is never ostentatious, however; he prefers to use it as a platform from which the horns, guitar and bass can then improvise. Coupled with his shorter, delicate "Sunken Treasure", they define the record's terms.
As an addition there's HoraceSilver's "Sister Sadie", which is not available on some CD (or LP) versions of Out of the Cool. It is different in style than the other pieces - more conventionally swinging - but, like everything on here, it is expertly handled. It also brings the CD up to a respectable running time.
The orchestra members do a fantastic job with what must have been very demanding material and treatment....

sentimental 70s Review ofSentimental Seventies - New Seekers (The)by
abernethybiscuit
Advantages: not a cd filled with g/hits features album tx Disadvantages: liner notes sparse
...Although it says this is a best of, it features mainly tracks from the group's Together album but does feature the last 2xtop 10 hits-'sentimental over you' and 'you wont find another fool'.
Worth buying to also hear 'the greatest song I ever heard' which stangely was a single in USA, Far east and OZ but not the UK.
For the fans it was one of the group's few albums put on cd and we thank that 'somebody somewhere' who was good enough to ogranise it all.
One for the fans, but if you want to explore the quintet's great vocal abilities then this would be a worthwhile purchase. Quality songs and recording. This has the original line-up of eve, lyn etc.
Liner notes sparse.
Deleted by 07 but turns up on ebay....
