Advantages: U2's self-professed first backslidden LP
Disadvantages: quite incoherent at times (even backwards)

...with the declining period of the other favourite band of mine - the group called YES (specifically by releasing their four tracked / four sided / (+four eyed ~kidding) LP titled Tales from the Topographic Ocean (sorry for the many parentheses again)); which many have observed from both sides of fans and non-U2 fans alike as the band’s most incomprehensible effort. However, the album carried one of their gratest songs "(Proide) In thu Naime o' Luv", and not to mention (and yet i say it anyhow) - a number of melodically good tunes which seemed to need some more ripening for refining ( "A Sort of Home Coming", "The UnForgettable Fire", "Bad" nope not the Michael Jackson tune heheh, and "Mlk") There are parts in the album that'll totally freak you out -specifically the track "Elvis Presley & America". U2 moving from a spark to a flame.

Advantages: Beautiful 'soundscapes', lyrics tackle serious issues such as war atrocities and heroin abuse
Disadvantages: Overly reflective, not much FUN.

...and find a new sound and direction instead of simply relying on the soapbox anthems it worried would become its stereotype. This was helped in no small measure by the work of producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois who signed onto the loose jam sessions at Slane Castle, a paced and nurturing beginning to the recording that ended in a frantic frenzy that left a few of the songs less polished than the band would have liked. With less than two weeks before the start of the Unforgettable Fire Tour, Bono was forced to go ahead with the lyrics already written, despite his adamant reserve the band found itself forced under the wire yet again. The mixed reviews for U2's fourth album may have reflected that hurried strain at the end. A Beautiful Reminder!

Advantages: Her voice and choice of songs, especially the "duet" with her father
Disadvantages: If you don't like these old songs, you might not enjoy this album, but you'd be cheating yourself if you didn't try

.... Unforgettable That list probably doesn't say much to most of you. But perhaps I can help jog your memories a bit. For instance, the song 'Nature Boy' was featured heavily in the movie "Moulin Rouge" (remember the song that starts out "There was a boy. A very strange enchanted boy. They say he wandered very far over land and sea. A little shy, and sad of eye, but very wise was he."?) For those of you who saw either the original or the remake of "The Thomas Crown Affair" the song 'Autumn Leaves' was the theme song for both versions - and I've recently heard a cover version of this song which has been given a slightly hip-hop bent to it - which is not bad, but it's not Nat or Natalie. Of course several of these songs have appeared as covers in many films over the years, and it would take me too long to point all of them out here. But unless... Read review
