The Blue South - A Beautiful and Colourful Effort

Advantages: A lyrical and melodical masterpiece with hidden depth
Disadvantages: Dark and seedy themes may not suit all tastes

depressing) content. However, the band skilfully lighten the mood whilst never betraying the impact of their song writing. Consistently good, with nothing you could describe as a truly duff track, if you buy one album from the band (other than ?Carry on Up the Charts? released in 1994 - their best compilation) I would argue that this is the one to go for. It is a varied, mature effort that rewards repeated listens. Recommended. ?And we only smoke when bored, so we do two packs a day, and we?ve lost the difference between bored and lonely anyway?? SPOONING IS FUN . . . :)

Advantages: funny, at times worrying realistic, great performances from the cast
Disadvantages: the odd "miss", only one series ever made

's Kevin Bishop, who not only has his own self-named show, he is probably most familiar as playing multiple famous characters in the awesomely funny "Star Stories". Former CBBC presenter Josie D'Arby shows a very funny side, as does Rob Rouse, the ORIGINAL presenter of "The Friday Night Project". All of them, whether people you recognise or not, put in fab performances and go all out to try and make you laugh. Like most sketch shows, there is a mixture of one-off sketches, as well as ones which run throughout the series. These include the man who is too scared to ask what his other half wants at any point because her reply is inevitably "a f*cking BABY", a man who retreats to storage space on a regular basis to escape his girlfriend/wife, and (my personal favourite) a man who feels so trapped in his relationship that he begs strangers to ...

Review of Spoons - Series 1 (DVD)

Another Train, Another Murder.......The Mystery of the Blue Train

Advantages: Good plot twists. Well written. Classic Who-Dunnit.
Disadvantages: Slight formulaic feel, too similar to other Christie books in parts.

Agatha Christie, widely accepted as the Queen of Crime, was a prolific writer. Only outsold by Shakespeare and the Bible, she has sold over a billion books in English and a further billion in other languages. Her most famous creations are Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, representations of whom can be seen regularly on our television screens. This book features Poirot, the dapper little Belgian detective with his superior powers of deduction and moustache-twirling tendencies. The plot of The Mystery of the Blue Train did feel slightly formulaic to my mind. A rich American beauty is married to an impoverished English cad, a man with expensive taste, trying to sustain his champagne lifestyle on his ?shandy? income, including financing a high-maintenance and demanding mistress. The American, after persuasion ...
