...JIMMY EAT WORLD FUTURES 2004 ----------------------------- Jimmy Eat World are one of those bands that nobody knew for years then suddenly they have a breakthrough album and suddenly they are in everyone’s cd collection. Well they are back again with a new album, and a bit of a new sound. The band formed way back in 1993, and did some tours released some Ep’s and just generally gained a small fan base. In 1994 they released their debut album, which was self titled and released on a small Indie label. After this the band was quickly signed up to Capitol Records, and released second album ‘Static Prevails’ in 1996. This was a very rough, quite punky affair which had its moments but ultimately was a slight let down. On to 1999 and the bands third album ‘Clarity’, and here we see the band sounding completely different... Read review

Advantages: Massively melodic and hugely energetic and entertaining music.
Disadvantages: I fail to think of any.

...as much when it turned out to be the least successful of the three. Of the chosen single tracks, 'Pain' is without doubt the one I appreciate the most and is in fact a brilliant song. It is extremely powerful and the chorus will get deep inside of you, pushing deeper and deeper with every driving guitar riff and impressing hugely with its epic nature. It is amongst my favourite of the tracks that Jimmy Eat World have recorded and is one that I would definitely recommend all listen to. 'Nothing Wrong' is another track that I would advise all to listen to. It has a great bite about it, a booming drum beat, a guitar riff that could destroy the world, and the vocals come firing through fully loaded with plenty of passion and a venomous sting. ...This music and album is one to appreciate. Salmonella Dub hails from Kaikoura, New Zealand and were formed in 1994. One Drop East is Salmonella Dub's second major album released in New Zealand in 2004. This albums shows that the bands dub music has matured since their first album Killervision was released in 1999, which was released to critical acclaim. Tracks such as 'Nu Steppa', 'Pure', 'Simmer Down', 'Octopus' and 'Bubble' have made me forget the world and go into my own world. If you like dub music and want to chill out buy it. The album displays influences quintessential to the new wave of New Zealand, which was first displayed in Killervision in 1999 and has been improved upon... Read review
