Jimmy Eat World formed way back in 1993, however it was not until some years later that they'd become the household name that they are today. They started out small, releasing their first album in 1994 through Wooden Blue Records; it was aptly titled simply 'Jimmy Eat World'. Doesn't appear as though they were awfully creative in their early days then but there you go, they were shortly after snapped up by Capitol and in 1996 released their first album through them, 'Static Prevails'. 'Futures' was their fifth studio album and was released in the year 2004, it has to date sold over 607 000 copies in the U.S. alone and has therefore secured 'Gold' status.
'Pain' was the single chosen to lead this album and also released were the tracks 'Work' and 'Futures'. 'Futures' is perhaps the weakest of those chosen to be singles and proved as much when it turned out to be the least successful of the three. Of the chosen single tracks, 'Pain' is without doubt the one I appreciate the most and is in fact a brilliant song. It is extremely powerful and the chorus will get deep inside of you, pushing deeper and deeper with every driving guitar riff and impressing hugely with its epic nature. It is amongst my favourite of the tracks that Jimmy Eat World have recorded and is one that I would definitely recommend all listen to.
'Nothing Wrong' is another track that I would advise all to listen to. It has a great bite about it, a booming drum beat, a guitar riff that could destroy the world, and the vocals come firing through fully loaded with plenty of passion and a venomous sting. It is a track that can be listened to over and over, one that stands the test of time and never will it become tiresome to you. With each and every listen the track will impress and in fact it will sound better every time. It certainly does to me anyway, I can't get enough of it and once I've played it for a first time it then has to be played over and over again. It is tracks like these that I love the most, powerful tracks that get more so every time, complete with a guitar riff that makes you want to reach for your guitar and belt out the crushing riff you have just been listening to.
Each and every track from this 'Futures' album is beautifully and most wonderfully created, with great care clearly having been taken over the recording of this release. The subject matter of the lyrics is often dark, and yet the band sound calming and soothing in most of the tracks, qualities which makes their often gentle music stand out from the crowd. They are not your typical band of this sort and have a name for themselves through being a bit different and making themselves stand out. Jimmy Eat World have great individuality and never does their music sound at all contrived.
Producing music at the melodic end of Punk Rock; Jimmy Eat World have established a sound which is very much their own and in doing so have built up quite a hefty fan base over the years. Granted, they have never had a fan base as large as that of Green Day for example, but what they have done is built up a fan base that is largely loyal through releasing six albums of exceptional quality. This has been no small achievement for the band and I feel that this is something that they should be greatly applauded for. Their sound bridges the boundaries of Alternative Rock, Pop Punk, and Emo; a sound that they have refined and perfected over the years in order to establish themselves as the brilliant Jimmy Eat World band that we know them as today.

'Very Helpful' review. Maybe the "Jimmy Eat World" band could have made a better choice converting 'Nothing Wrong' into a single rather than 'Futures' which is one of the weakest tracks. Respect ---- DIJEH
