I am a 56 year old man.I work at a big local store, have been married for 36 years.I have no children but 2 rescue dogs.My interests are music,fishing when i get the chance.

In 1960 a brown parcel arrived at our house addressed to my 13 ½ year old sister . No-one in the family , apart from my sister, knew what it contained .We sat at the living room table and she opened it .Bursting with curiosity we all watched .
It contained an official letter from the Elvis Presley fan club stating that , my sister was now a fully paid-up member of the Elvis Presley Fan Club . It contained all the Photographs , Posters and other Paraphernalia associated with Elvis Presley .
A few days later my sister arrived home with my dad after a shopping trip . She had bought her very first L.P. (long playing record to you young things ) . It was G. I .Blues by Elvis . Well we all enjoyed it immensely . My sister and I danced around the house every day for a month . I couldn't do it now for a minute .
Now , 46 years later , my sister has still got that L .P . I on the other hand was a teenager of the 1960`s and
went on to other things .Say no more .
Recently , in 2007 , I have acquired G.I.BLUES on C.D . I can honestly say as soon as I put it on my stereo , and switched it on the years fell away , and all the forgotten memories came flooding back .
Track 1.-Tonight is So Right For love ( I can remember smooching to this track - too much information I know .
Track 2.-What’s she really like . ( I’ve been singing this for days)
Track 3.-Frankfort Special (Great for singing with the lads or old men as is the case for me nowadays )
Track 4.-Wooden Heart ( Still one of my favourite Elvis tracks . I know it’s a soppy one but I like it .)
Track 5.-GI Blues ( The title track . Still a great dancing track, just roll back the carpet , and the years , and get down there )
Track 6.-Pocketful of rainbows (What a great track for cuddling up to your loved one ).
Track 7.-Shoppin’ around ( This still gets your feet tapping as soon as you hear that first note )
Track 8.-Big Boots ( Nice soppy song , just my type )
Track 9.-Didja‘ Ever ( Another great party song for singing and dancing )
Track 10.-Blue suede shoes (Well what can I say . There can‘t be many who have never heard this Elvis classic/ Everybody knows this song .. Gggreat )
Track 11.-Doin‘ the best I can (Just listen to that beautiful voice which still brings a tingle after all these years ).
Now tracks 12-20 , I don't know if these were on the original album . I can't really remember , but they are good anyway .They are re-takes of some of the tracks on the C.D .
What I love about this CD is it is Elvis in his heyday . He is not quite the young rebel of old and has started to mature a little . However he had not started the slippery slope to middle of the road at this time .His voice has mellowed a little but the rock edge is still there. For me his Vegas days were not my thing .This album is a good mid-point of his career when the flush of youth was still there .
I hope you have enjoyed this review . I have enjoyed writing it as it made me listen to Elvis again but with my full attention to this classic Elvis Presley music . So I've got it playing now in the background and I'm loving it , and enjoying reminiscing .The years fall away and I'm back as a youth just having a laugh with my sis.
If this review has made you think of buying G.I blues , I'd recommend you do so . It's still great after all these years . G I Blues was recorded just as Elvis was leaving his army days behind . There is a film with the same name and this music . As I have already said it's not from Elvis's very early days but it's before the Vegas years and Elvis's decline in health and popularity.
As I received this for a present , I'm unsure of the price . However I've seen it in the shops for around £6.99 - to £7.99 . No doubt you could pick it up for a bargain price on E . Bay . It won't be the original L.P though , as , that no doubt would cost a fortune . Unless you know different .
I have very mixed taste in music but I still love this , even after all those years .For the uninitiated Elvis still has a place today . I was surprised to discover that my neighbours daughter has a passion for Elvis's music . By the way she is only 7 ( going on 70 ) .

Good review, I like to read a few lyrics, as that gives me an idea if I like a song. I remember watching the movies as a teenager in the school hols and they were very enjoyable! Karen
