GOAT (Greatest Of All Time Featuring James T. Smith) [PA] - LL Cool J

Advantages: Holds some of his best loved hits
Disadvantages: Miss's out on some gems present in albums like "Mr Smith"

...Overall, a really strong compilation of hits. The CD begins with "I Can't Live Without My Radio", which elevated him to mini superstar status as a young teen. When you first play the CD, you remember the raw energy LL had at the beginning of his career, however the CD could have included one or 2 live performances of his hits (no one rocks the bells like a young angry LL Cool J!!), though you don't mind so much hearing the soft melodies within his monster RnB/Hip Hop smash, "I Need Love". The CD sticks to the greatest hits formula, by containing most of his commercial releases, i.e. "Big Ole Butt" and "Mama Said Knock You Out", however, songs like "Make It Hot" off the "Mr Smith" album, and "Clap Your hands" off "Walking with A Panther", are sorely missed with an artist that has a catalogue of now 11 albums, you could expect his CD... ...can imgine getting annoying rather quick (especially with the little marching segments). **One Star** 16. "Speedin' On Da Highway" Thsi tune has LL aparently taking more influence from the sounds of the Dirty South as he opts for some watered-down Crunk beats and raps in a rather repetitive way, which suprises me as he has often critcised this style of rap. However when you have him doign this kind of rap as he goes for some hard raps, he makes it all work for him. I did think that it was slightly forced thugh, as it isn't really something he would usually do. **Three Stars** 17. "Come And Party With Me" I'm fuly aware of the journey which LL Cool J has gone on over the years and how many times he's changed up his style, but there is one which I've always had trouble believing from him as he has a go at some hardcore... There are also stars hanging behind him, and there is a purple background. Infront of his hands is the title album "THE CURE GREATEST HITS". The inside of the sleeve continues the purple, and star theme as a background, and all of the titles of the songs are listed. By each song title is information about each song, such as, who wrote the song, who plays on the song, and which album the song is from. The sleeve does not include any lyrics though.
