Advantages: Calming tunes Disadvantages: Sometimes a little too much pure melody...
of Scotland, you can always get their albums cheaply somewhere, and if you're only paying a few pounds, it's definitely a worthwhile album to buy. If not for the music, it's a talking point. I mean, most people will have the Beatles in their music collection, but how many have Runrig?
Quick run through:
Glory Road- A gentle introduction, but not the best.
Alba- Gaelic, but has a lovely soft tune.
The Greatest Flame- Slow, seductive. Typical Runrig.
Rocket to the Moon- Love it! A catchy one.
Abhainn an T-sluiagh- Gaelic also, but nice- slow, calming.
Protect and Survive- Sticks in your head, provocative.
Rhythm of my Heart- Has this not been covered by...Rod Stewart?
Hearthammer- Bit more upbeat. Not one of the top tunes.
An Ubhal as Airde- Erm...well, it's ok. I don't understand a word as it's in Gaelic, but it's still not a favourite ...

They have being going since 1973, just over 30 years. The music style is normally discribed as folk/celtic rock music which is as close as I come to discribing it as they don't tend to fall in to any one slot!
This album was recorded in 1981 and is considered to be one of the best Runrig have ever done , with such beautiful songs as the old boys to totally unique songs as An Toll Dubh (the Dugeon) with its thumping beat that was created when telegraph ...

Advantages: Recorded With A Mainstream Record Company Called Chrysalis Disadvantages: Out Of Whole Album, One Weak Song
As a Runrig fan, I try my best to get to all the gigs that I can, buy all the albums and cd single that I can and I can truely say there hasn't been one Runrig album that I have been dissapointed with. Everytime a new album comes out, they have something new to offer but still keep their feet firmly on the ground of what they are about.... Skye! They truely are a band who deserve more credit than they get.
Calum and Rory Mc Donald are bound to be in amongst the best songwriters of the 20th, 21st century. Their lyrics never fail to impress their loyal fan base as well as their brilliant live performances. Perhaps the best example of this is contained within one of their best recordings of all time, Searchlight. Not only was it on a mainstream record label (Chrysalis), this record was a hit and is full of a roller coaster ride ...
