Advantages: Excellent album with amazing lyrics and beats Disadvantages: Very long and pointless skits
...happy song to a harcore gangster song named 'yaal know we in here' the track is all about drugs, money, sex and the life of a gangster.
The album then goes onto the soulful tune, 'a gangster and a gentleman.' This song is all about Styles P's life and is incredible, yet unbeleivably nowhere near the best on the album
'Black magic' is the next track on this outstanding album. This track has an excellant beat and lyrics yet is very repetitive ... ...is what the album 'a gangster and a gentleman' is all about!
'Listen' is another soulful song about Styles asking God questions about life. The song is very successful as the beat suits the lyrics very well (a combination of happy and sad)
'Niggaz Flippin' (skit)' is an excellent introduction to the next song in the album! This track is about Styles changing from a gentleman to a gangster and acting in strange ways and the guy is talking ... more
Styles Aka Styles P, the ghost, Peniro, Holiday, released this album back in 2002, but unfortunately the album did not do as well as i would have expected. The album is underrated yet outstanding. The album consists of soulful songs, yet also hardcore songs, you would expect from the ruff ryder crew. For those of you who don't know, Styles P is a former member of the LOX alongside Jadakiss and sheek. The album starts off with an introduction and then gets onto the albums most famous song 'good times.' This song is about smoking weed and is incredible. Not only are the lyrics amazing but the beat is just as good. After listening to this song for the 1st time you will almost felt high yourself! The album then changes from a happy song to a harcore gangster song named 'yaal know we in here' the track is all about drugs, money, sex and the life of a gangster. The album then goes onto the soulful tune, 'a gangster and a gentleman.' This song is all about Styles P's life and is incredible, yet unbeleivably nowhere near the best on the album 'Black magic' is the next track on this outstanding album. This track has an excellant beat and lyrics yet is very repetitive and definately not the best song on the album. 'Daddy get that cash' is the best song on this album. The tune is incredible and the lyrics are about Styles using a 'bitch' to get her man's coke and money! Even after purchasing this album about 6 months ago and listening to it consistantly since, i have not got tired of this song. The next song is called 'lick shots.' This track is quite weak compared to the others on this album, but is still not that bad. It is 50 cent standard! 'And i came to...' is the next track and has an incredible tune and the lyrics are also great. 'Get Paid' is an unusual song. It has Kids singing the chorus. I am unsure whether this is a good or a bad thing, but if you like that type of thing, this is the song for you! The lyrics are good and the beat is great! A catchy song. 'ass bag (skit).' It would be a miriacle if anyone actually got this wierd, long skit. It is quite funny, yet WIERD! 'I'm a Ruffryder' is an excellent song on this incredible album. It is about being a ruffrder (hence the name) and the beat is incredible and the lyrics are Outstanding! Most probably one of the best songs on the album! 'Soul clap' grows on you as in my case i found the song boring the 1st time i listened to it, but from then on i seemed to take in the 'greatness' of the song. The lyrics are great and the beat is quite simple but also great. 'we thugs my niggas.' Is one of my favourite songs on the album. It is about life in the 'ghetto' and is incredible. The soulful tune goes perfectly with the great lyrics! 'styles' is not the best song on the album due to its wired 'carribean' tune and satisfactory lyrics. 'Barbershop (skit)' is a skit about a barbershop in the ghetto, there is jadakiss' album 'kiss tha game goodbye' playing in the background. There is a general convorsation about styles p's views and oppinions on life as that is what the album 'a gangster and a gentleman' is all about! 'Listen' is another soulful song about Styles asking God questions about life. The song is very successful as the beat suits the lyrics very well (a combination of happy and sad) 'Niggaz Flippin' (skit)' is an excellent introduction to the next song in the album! This track is about Styles changing from a gentleman to a gangster and acting in strange ways and the guy is talking about killing him. 'yaal don't wanna fuck!' is joined in 1st position with 'daddy get that cash' for my favourite song in the album. The song features M.O.P who have now unfortunately joined the g unit crew!! This song is very hardcore and is amazing. The beat is outstanding and the lyrics are also amazing! M.O.P are completely crazy in this song and it makes the song aggressive and VERY successful. 'Shit done changed (skit)' concludes 'Niggaz flippin' (skit)' about Styles changing. Styles ends up shooting the guy who was talking about killing him. 'nobody beleives me' is a song that is about Styles P's weapons talking to him beleive it or not! It is still very good and catchy despite its stupid lyrics, yet they are also quite funny! 'Dedication (skit)' is a skit where Styles is dedicating his album to people such as his dead brother Garry. 'My Brother' is an outstanding song about Styles p's dead brother. It is another soulful tune and is definately one of the best songs on the album. It is very hard to put the tracks on this album in order of my favoutites. Great song. 'Outro' is basically exactally the same as the intro only Styles is concluding the album! *'the life' is a bonus track on the album and is incredible! It is about living a life full of crime and drugs in the ghetto. This song is great compared to most bonus tracks on albums.
A gangster and a Gentleman is an outstanding album. Nothing like this has ever been attempted. I highly reccomend you buy this album if you are a rap fan! You will not regret your descision and i hope this album brings you as much enjoyment as it has given to me.
Advantages: CLever ,Nice, Ill Disadvantages: LIttle to dry for the in the club posse
Styles P a gangster and a gentlemen...
And in this solo album he begins to show the maturity y both as an individual a man and as an artist. Ive always been a fan of the lox even though people said they were boring i knew that Big and Puffys protoges would grow up to be big ballers in the rap game.
On that level the infamous holiday styles really hold his own.
This is grown ass gangster rap no longer the hungry street cat ready to bust on any ... ...money but an older wiser ready to bust out hot metal raps but at he time explore his reality on an adult level..
The production from the ruff ridas camp is excellent as ever and styles gets help tearin up from the likes of Jadakiss and Pharoe Monche..
Quality album if you like the dry east coast lyricism!! ...

Album Reviews
Rolling Stone (8/8/02, p.80) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...Styles may be painspoken, but he's certainly not simple. Many of his songs celebrate life's underdogs, and the rest reflect a deep nihilism....a sad and unaplogetic Styles stares mortality right in the face..." CMJ (8/5/02, p.15) - "...This debut announces Styles presence as a solo artist with authority."
