This record rocks! It' very hard and very heavy, pure thrash metal, combining power, speed and rage. The drumming is terrific: Dave Lombardo is one of the best drummer in the world, and in this record he shows all his tecnique, power and speed, whith fenomenal results. Chuck Billy (the singer) offers a good performance, sometime singing with plain voice and sometime growling, but he is always very aggressive. The bass player is Steve Di Giorgio himself (no words needed, one of best bass player in rock and metal scene), and guitars are always powerful and with an excellent production. A great record, all the tracks are good and there is nothing wrong. I hope that the next one will be as good as this...
Advantages: brutal production, powerfull and skillfull musicianship killer songs from a legend Disadvantages: the moment it's over
Hell yeah this one kept me going on several occasions. Testament's The gathering was a statement when the band released this cd. Being one of the first big american trash metal bands back in the 80's Testament never became as popular as Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer of Metallica. Still this cd rocked more than any of the later releases of formentioned bands.
Great trash riffs, a brutal still variated voice and great drumparts mek this one a classic in the history of trash metal. Songs like '3 days of darkness", "legions of the dead", "D.N.R" are high quality solid metal from exceptional level.
Everything just sounds great, production, guitarparts, drums, it s all killer baby! People iinto metal, especially into 80's trahs metal should check this one out. ...
