I am aware of some of Ray Charles work but this one was the one I acquire as being the "father of soul music”. Maybe impressed that "Genius loves company" was the last album that he recorded, his music seems evolved in a "blues-esco" spirit full of nostalgic. Composed with twelve duets, the album represents thirteen songs that with out a thought sparkles Ray Charles genius and the magic of is guests. Ray’s voice it's in a terrific shape even with is age and his long disease, lets say that it is not as strong as it used to be but that way to put emotion and sentiment into his music is still there. The songs are great...actually they are real classics...I remember to ear his voice for the first time in "You don't know" on his original track and I really loved it, a and it is today one of my favourites. With this album I had the chance to record it with the voice of Diana Krall, that I loved it. Sir Elton John helps a lot with is voice in "Sorry seem to be the hardest word": both "sirs" together are what you could call superb musical class. Between other exceptional artists we can find all time songs as “Her we go again” with Norah Jones; “sinner’s Prayer" with the master voice of B. B. King and "heaven helps us all" with Stevie Wonder. When you reunite classics like these ones; friends with superb talent; great interpretations with the genius of Ray Charles, it’s with out a thought an adventure not to lose... And to think it was his last one....
