Advantages: Great sound, sturdy, easy to use Disadvantages: Only runs off mains power
Before I got my iPod and sounddock, I was one of those who refuses to subscribe to the technological revolution. Prefering hi-fi and compact disc to the digital music phenomenon. However, within a week (once I'd worked out how to use it), I was hooked on my iPod and once I got the sound-dock, there was no turning back. I think it's fairly safe to say that the era of compact disc players and tape decks is over... The only reason I still have a normal cd player in my house is to listen to the radio, and those few albums that I just haven't got around to putting on my iPod yet.
The Bose sound-dock is a piece of mastery in the area of audio technology. Beautiful, sleek and streamlined; it's large frontal speaker provides both volume and sound quality. The music I play on the sound-dock sounds almost incomparably better than CDs ...
Advantages: A step back in time! Disadvantages: It is a little short...but it doesnt have to be!
and sociability that is hard to find these days. You will find yourself chatting to the guard or any of the ticket inspectors up and down on the train. Even when you go in to the refreshement rooms eg at Oxenhope or on the platform at Keighley you receive intimate and friendly service.
I am not going to go into detail regarding the journeys up and down the line [albeit a short 5 mile trip] as I believe another author has covered that well. Suffice to say the scenery is lovely and one can relate to the railwaychildren film scenery and also to recognise some of the scenes that you may have seen in Sherlock Holmes adventures [Keighley railway station ] amongst others.
The staff do go out of their way to make it special and if you have children I recommend the Christmas Specials that KWVR run annually although even if you do not have children the run ...

A bit on the author

Edith Nesbit was born in 1858 and died in 1924. Her family were wealthy and when she moved to Halstead House where she lived for three years, these were the happiest years of her life. There was a railway cutting near her house which she used to explore (in comes the book!). Nesbit was a very successful author and her books continue to sell well even today. Her first children's book was "The Treasure Seekers" and wrote many other popular books such as "Five Children and It". This book was first produced in 1906 and so far has never been out of print.
