Album Reviews: NME (10/10/97, p.53) - \"...(GERMO)PHOBIC...displays all the hallmarks of every left-field punker's anti-Amerikkkan dream-- welding the askew pop sensiblities of, say, Jane's Addiction onto Fugazi-ite primal urges and rhythmic pulverisation...\"
Advantages: Every song has a story.Live recording atmosphere. Disadvantages: Another garbage looking cd cover.

My favourite stories are below. The rest you can discover for yourself. Like with good book, you don't want anyone to spoil it all for you!
W.O.L.D- The story of a small town DJ who obviously thinks he is brilliant. He leaves his wife to become something he isn't! His life as a DJ goes through all the types of radio stations and high school proms. Then when he realises he's off to "radio quiet", he finds that his life with his wife is what he should have worked at. She is long gone. Oh dear.
I wanna learn a love song- A travelling man who teaches guitar for a few $'s a time. He finds himself teaching a lonely housewife to play...

Advantages: The music is extremely energetic, the members of StoneRider are all highly talented. Disadvantages: It could perhaps be seen that many of the tracks here sound quite similar.
..., 'Three Legs of Trouble' should be regarded as essential listening. Tracks such as 'Hair of the Dog' and 'Wild Child' are particularly impressive here I feel. 'Wild Child' is a particularly strong rock track to listen to; the southern drawl of the bands front man Matt Tanner comes across perfectly here. With this track the sound put forward by the band is a cross between hard rock and southern rock, the music works magnificently and the sound created here truly is epic. It is the guitar riffs that make the music so powerful here, but also the vocal tone that makes this one stand out so much. Every element of the music just seems to fit together; 'Wild Child' is a finely structured track with an incredible chorus to boot.
'Hair of the Dog' begins with an incredible drum beat and it is this that makes this track stand out so much for me...

Advantages: Many excellent songs, wonderful poetic lyrics, great voices Disadvantages: A couple of weaker songs, only seventeen tracks on mine!

This is followed by Masculine Eclipse, a beautiful ballad featuring Paul and Jacqui again. Their voices complement each other’s so well, it will be interesting to see how they develop musically, now Jacqui has left. The lyrics of this one are very clever, as usual, dealing with heartbreak while using metaphors of sinking ships! Pretty song, rather swayable...
‘Til You Can’t Tuck It In increases the pace again, after a couple of slower tracks. This returns to an earlier theme of ageing, lamenting greying hair and increasing waistlines, similar to the wrinkle-counting of Prettiest Eyes in 1994. Gentle, clever and rather sad.
If We Crawl is track six and a song I have only heard properly once, because it contains a word I am phobic about! But my partner has played it many times out of my earshot and assures me it is the worst track...
