Advantages: This gospel group are outstanding!! Disadvantages: None
The Sounds of Blackness, was created in 1971, as a traditional American Gospelchoir, but their reputation for contempary gospel has made them a popular group to which many a main stream artist would like to work with.
The group is made up of a 50 strong talented vocalists, with the lead artist (Anne Nesby) holding the choir in good esteem. I first stumbled across the Sounds of Blackness on the radio when I heard their singles "Optimistic" and "Pressure (Part 2)". I loved it so much that I rang the radio station to ask for the name of the album. The album was worth every penny.
The music is so uplifting and inspiring and touches and celebrates the different genres of African, Jazz and Gospel music. The artistes celebrate the origins of black music as well as it's influences on the world music scene. ...
Advantages: Elvis Presley singing some wonderful music Disadvantages: The tracks have been released and re-released many times over the years

ULTIMATE GOSPEL is one such repackaging. There is no new material on this release, just the same old gospel songs which have been released time and again. But this is not a complaint - if this re-releasing is what keeps the music on the market, then so be it, as the music itself is wonderful.

Advantages: The broadness of the music kept my interest throughout, they enjoyed being there! Disadvantages: None for me.
the end of the evening they had all sung either solo or with one other person.
There was no conductor, but they really didn?t need one.

The Choir probably spent a equal time singing traditional African hymns as they did songs that I or my friend already knew.
The first half of the concert featured some wonderful arrangements, including a rendition of Bob Marley?s One Love which then slipped seamlessly into Bridge over troubled waters by Simon and Garfunkel.
The second half featured what was probably my favourite song of the evening, Peter Gabriel?s Biko. They also sung a beautiful rendition ...
