Cant stop the rock, you just can’t stop the rock. Well they certainly couldn’t. I know the album is ancient, but I just saw it in my rack and thought, oh my god I forgot all about it, and I realized how few people have actually heard of, or heard this album. So I decided to write all about it!
The style of music, as you may pick up through this opinion Is electric guitars but it comes under rock in the genre. But it is also very computer edited which gives it great effects. Oh yeah, and the album Is called getting high on your power supply, which is also the name of track 12, the best track on the album.
~~~ The Tracks ~~~
1. Are we a rock band or what? Well it does sound like it, This is the introduction to the album, it is the shortest track on the album, 1min 19seconds long just brings in the album, im not a lover of intro I always skip this track. :)
2. Stop the rock Now everyone must of heard this track is it was a chart topper in 1998. Also it was in the sound track for lost in space the movie. The tune is Electro-rock with a heavy beat that is really great to go mental to when you have had a few to many. This track is 3mins 32 Seconds long
3.
Crazee Horse This song is really weird, it has the same beat as Stop the rock, but a little faster, as most of the songs are. But the lyrics are very hard to understand but if you listen carefully you will feel sick, by the name you can guess what its about. But I am not going to spoil the fun, you will have to listen out. This track is 3mins 46seconds long
4. Cold rock the mic Now this is a superb blend of rock and Electro beats, it is really heavy rock so the beat just is amazing. This is the background song I used for my first website that was made for mp3s. I wont give you the address because people will moan at me for self-promotion. This song is a whopping 4mins 19seconds long
5. Lost in Space (Theme) Yes yes, another song you should of all heard, a fast moving heavy beated tune. Makes full use of the guitar and is the theme to the lost in space movie of 1998. This song is also on the soundtrack album for this film. This song is 3mins 25seconds long
6. For forty days I have not a lot to say about this song, it is very samey, it is very like all the others on the album, heavy electro rock that’s quite fast. It is very long and makes it drag a little at 5mins 32 seconds.
7. Heart Go Boom Oh I love this one, its not very heavy and the words are very repetitive, makes my heart go boom boom, over and over again. But it has a funky backbeat and really gets you grooving. It makes full use of computer effects just like Fatboy Slim. This song is a good 5mins and 1 second long.
8. The Machine in the ghost Track 8 and 9 are very similar, so I will just say the same again, you may of gathered by now that the album is made mostly of…. Electro rock as these songs are also of that type. BlackBeat however, is a lot faster and has a good baseline whereas the baseline on the other tracks is not noticeable. Machine in the ghost can be very repetitive as it does last 6minutes and 43seconds, so I usually listen to the start as it has a great build up, then I skip to the next track. And Blackbeat is a small 3mins 23seconds
9. BlackBeat
10. Stadium Parking Lot Another, slower however, song on the album that I like, its in my top five. It uses fewer guitar sequences than all the other songs and a lot more guitar, I am really surprised this track was not released as a single it would of done well. Well that is my opinions I suppose. The Track is just under four minutes at 3mins 50seconds. A great listen.
11. Yo! Future – 4mins and 8seconds long
12. High on your own Supply (uh oh naughty words in this song) The best track on the album. Funny place to put it, the end. It is the fastest almost the heaviest, but I will garentee you will be listening to it with a beaming smile and you will be banging your heave along to the beat. It has a thumping baseline a breakbeat in the middle and the full electric guitar the full way through and just some groovy lyrics. The track last 5mins 18seconds and is timed just right so you don’t get sick of it
~~~ CD Extra ~~~ The cd extra is for use on your pc, I assume most of you have one, otherwise you’d have a hard job reading this (Excludes cyber cafes) lol. It is compatible with Pc(Windows) or Macintosh. The Extra features are kind of boring, it would have been nice to have some decent song video’s but instead we are cursed with 25 I think, pictures of the making of the video and album. And a video of making the album. Wooow don’t fall off your seats with excitement there.
~~~ Overall ~~~ The album is a must get, it maybe old but its one of those albums that you don’t listen to much at a time, but you will keep finding it and thinking oh I haven’t listened to that in a while. If you’re a cheap skate you can find all the tracks in mp3 format on www.audiogalaxy.com to download. Or you can by the cd from HMV.co.uk for £13.99. Oh by the way I would not order from hmv as they are bad stitch ups, my bank is currently taking them to court for me because they over charged me and did not send me the goods. But that’s going to be in my next opinion.
Have a good one. Dave ~
I liked this album, loved Heart Go Boom, I think the CD extra was actually ok for its time, sure it doesn't compete with anything these days but when I had the album (and had to take it round to my friends house to use the CD-Rom as I still had a primitave version of a computer!) I was quite impressed.
Good op.
"All loved up in the afternoon, kiss my baby makes my heart go boom, makes my heart go boom boom"
Lol x
You like Blackbeat and Stadium Parking Lot!!
"Goin' to make enough noise to wake the dead. It's goin' on in my...... head!" are rubbish lyrics!!!!
They are the worst songs on the album. I don't find it samey and Heart Goes Boom is great (although a little silly). Still good that you have it not enough people do.
