The Real Hip Hop Is Over Here?

Advantages: A few bangers
Disadvantages: A few tracks are a little weaker than the rest

Nas? controversial ?Hip Hop Is Dead? release came out in 2006, and came at a time when he declared the ?death? of the genre, as he considered it?s true origins to have been diluted to a point beyond recognition when compared to its form in the seventies and eighties. It was the New Yorker?s eight album to that point, and saw him make another big statement to change the way all music of that time was seen. 1. ?Money Over Bulls**t? To get things going on this album you have him dropping a dark one where he chooses to take on all of those who really disagree with the statement which he comes out with. Just as he had done with the last few albums prior to this, you get him taking on classic samples which have been extensive used in Hip Hop (especially in the eighties). **Four Stars** 2. ?You Can?t Kill Me? As his statement obviously ...

Hip Hop Lives: No it doesn't

Advantages: Three AVERAGE songs... ?
Disadvantages: Borderline Randy Savage-level bad.

Gospel of Hip-Hop" as a religion. It's obvious to me that Kris Parker is off his rocker. In fact, take a look at this quote from AllHipHop.com about his upcoming book: "I?m suggesting that in 100 years, this book will be a new religion on the earth... I think I have the authority to approach God directly, I don?t have to go through any religion or train of thought. I can approach God directly myself and so I wrote a book called "The Gospel of Hip Hop" to free from all this nonsense garbage right now." Is he nuts? It's statements like this that make me want to rip out his dirty locks piece by piece. GARBAGE? Ha! When I listen to Hip Hop Lives, I realize this is one of those "pot calling the kettle black" situations. The rap war between KRS-One's Boogie Down Productions and Marley Marl's Juice Crew in the mid 1980s is considered hip hop lore ...

Review of Hip Hop Lives - KRS-One & Marley Marl

You Expect Me To See A Teacher Who Can't Spell The Word

Advantages: Was original at the time
Disadvantages: Overrated

?By All Means Necessary? came in 1988 and was the second Boogie Down productions album. It saw massive changes since the classic debut ?Criminal Minded? as the MC to the group was forced to do things alone due to the death of DJ Scott La Rock and so KRS-One brought this one out with a new direction as after a early East coast Gangsta Rap offering that was his first record, this one would see him removing all of this in order to rid the Hip Hop generation of violence (which would have prevented Scott la Rock from being shot dead) by bringing this political offering. 1. *My Philosophy? The record kicks off with a track that sees him coming with a clearly-adapted approach to his music as he comes through with rhymes which have him using the position that he gave himself with his debut, to teach others (which sound like lectures as he ...
