Kamelot return to our ears with 'Ghost Opera'. This album is mixed, and seems more mainstream than previous Kamelot. True to form it opens with an instrumental, yet less Epic. This seems to be the case for the entire album. There is less in terms of sterotypical 'Power' metal aspects, such as the keyboards. In place of normal keyboard sounds, real instruments take center stage. Its taken me a good few listens to, to come to terms with what the new Kamelot album. On the whole i dont dislike the album, im indifferent. Its not Kamelot as we have grown to know it, there is less in terms of winding soundscapes, neck breaking headbanging sections, less soloing, and more realism in comparison to the Medieval induced Kamelot of old. Not my favourite Kamelot album.
