Advantages: Cheap to buy or grow Pretty when grown and tasty when eaten Disadvantages: I can't think of any
I know I haven't written a review for a little while I've been a bit lazy and now Halloween is over I thought I would write a review telling you all about Gourds.
I don't know if many people know this but you can actually eat them as well a chop them into funny face shapes for Halloween. I say this because the only time I ever see them in the supermarkets is just before Halloween although the season for gourds runs right from late September until December.
Another thing people probably don't know is that they keep for ages, I grow them on my allotment and I can cut them from the plant around now and as long as I don't chop into the thick skin they will still be good to eat two or three months from now.
There are loads of different types of Gourds/Squash's the most recognisable being the pumpkin, I also grow Snowball Courgettes ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Gourds
Advantages: Upbeat, joyous and infectious Disadvantages: Very hard to come by
Overview
Formed in 1986, The London Boys consisted of Edem Ephraim and Dennis Fuller fronting for their producer and songwriter Ralf-René Maué (but not in the Milli-Vanilli way because Edem and Dennis sing their own tunes). As accomplished dancers, Ephraim and Fuller quickly made a name for themselves across Europe thanks to their high energy performances and eurodisco beats.
The 1989 album "The Twelve Commandments of Dance" reached number 2 in the UK charts and is probably their best known work. This review however covers the lesser-known 1995 album "Hallelujah Hits" released shortly before the untimely demise of Ephraim and Fuller in a car accident. "Hallelujah Hits" is an unusual crossover album fusing traditional gospel compositions with eurodance beats.

My Experience
I do enjoy a good romcom to life the spirts and give myself a warm fuzzy glow.
I saw trailers for this when it was first realeased at the cinema and thought it looked quite fun but I've only just got around to watching it.
Obviously the film has taken it's main plot form A Christmas Carol and changed it into something more romantic. This does make the film predictable but most romcoms are and it doesn't make it any less enjoyable ...

Album Reviews
Spin (11/99, p.193) - 7 out of 10 - "...the Gourds blend collegiate smart-assness with workaday smarts, throwing dobros, mandolins, fiddles, and banjos into twangisgh songs that are almost always tightly constructed and finely observed....[they] are unafraid to tackle Americana..." Dirty Linen (8-9/99, p.69) - "...one of Austin's best-kept secrets....a swirling mixture of acoustic rock laced with country and a range of other less obvious influences..."
