Advantages: Good tunes Disadvantages: Looses the atmosphere of the original
Bullitt is one of my favourite films and no small part of that is LaloSchifrin’s jazz flavoured sound track. However it’s not a particularly straight form of jazz. My father is a large fan of jazz and yet couldn’t name any other artist who has produced music similar to Lalo’s sound track. The overall tone of the music is darker than ‘normal’ jazz, reflecting the less than cheery outlook of the movie.
However, this is NOT the original sound track, oh no. There are quite a few Bullitt CD’s floating round and this one, released in May 2001 is somewhat obviously not the original original sound track. Instead it’s a re-recording supervised by Lalo and performed by the musical talents of the WDR orchestra, “Bullitt – Music recreated from and inspired by the motion picture” ...
Advantages: Great action comedy, Fun for all ages, Disadvantages: Had to wait six years for the film!, Last in the Rush hour films
to try and stop the triad gang for good.
As always they show the out takes at the end of the film which adds the extra laughs ontop of the film itself.
(Without spoiling the film at this point this is all i can really say on the film i will update it in the future giving people time to see the film)
------THE SOUNDTRACK------
The director Brett Ratner once again got Argentine composer LaloSchifrin to produce the music for this film. Lalo produces some wonderfull music which reflects the films mood (mostly the action and comedy) I would say that the music enhances some action scenes and produces that extra rush for the action scenes. ...
Advantages: The two tracks mentined above Disadvantages: Musically - it's poor

Recorded live at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Cologne, Germany on November 30, 1996. GILLESPIANA, originally released in two LPs by Verve in 1960 and produced by Norman Granz, features legendary be-bop trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, in two performances from New York, one live from Carnegie Hall. He is backed by a full jazz orchestra on each, and the fat, Latin-tinged sound is a result of a combustible collaboration with then 28-year-old pianist/musical director-composer, Lalo Schiffrin. At the time of these recordings, Gillespie was interested in bringing be-bop into a more artistic light. His work here with Schiffrin was largely praised at the time as Gillespie stretched his own strengths to meet the younger composer's more contemporary compositional ideas. Thus, Gillespie maintained a hold on his innovative reputation and avoided slipping into nostalgia. The first five tracks (all Schiffrin compositions) are studio recordings, and have a sweeping orchestral depth. The remainder of the recording is the Carnegie hall performance and is looser but marvelous, including a Schiffrin reworking of Dizzy's classic "Night in Tunisia," as "Tunisian Fantasy," on the final cut.
