Advantages: Great music Disadvantages: Not as good as their best
**Introduction**
If you are a regular Dooyooer then you will probably have come across my Lynyrd Skynyrd reviews at some point. Having done six of them so far I decided to review another one of their albums, This time their fourth studio album "Gimmebackmy bullets" which was released in 1976. Despite the title track and the two other singles Double Trouble" and "Cry For The Bad Man" it is the least successful Lynyrd Skynyrd album of the original Ronnie Van Zant era.
**GimmeBackmy bullets**
The fourth studio album from Lynyrd Skynyrd originally featured nine songs but with the release of the 1999 reissue there were two tracks added. The tracks are live versions of GimmeBackMy Bullets and Cry for the bad man. This is the album between guitarist Ed King leaving the band and Steve Gaines replacing him before he died just three ...
Advantages: A touching, very British story Disadvantages: Nothing particularly outstanding about it
depressing; there is nothing like the drama of a pit about to close to make a film dismal and disheartening. However, the odd bit of comedy, for example, Phil dressing up as Mr Chuckles the clown, lightens the atmosphere enough to make it bearable.
Being primarily a story about a brassband, the film is naturally interspersed with brassband music played by the real Grimley Colliery Band. I'm not a big fan of brassband music, but this added to the Britishness of the film and made me feel proud to be British!
This isn't an outstanding film by any stretch of the imagination. However, I enjoyed it and I think that most of my generation and older will like it and probably those younger will too. Recommended.
I watched the film only version, but the DVD is available from Amazon at the enormous cost of £20.99 in the new and used section. Ouch ...
Advantages: Neighbours & Strangers Talk. A Day Off Work. Fun In The Snow. Disadvantages: I hate snow! I Pay For Lunch. No Busses Running.
ALTERNATIVE TITLE: THE DAY THE SNOW CAME
"In myback yard?"
Well yes indeed, very much so. After all, once snow plays havoc with the local and national transport system one really has little option but to discover, or in some cases re-discover, exactly how big ones back yard is and just what it contains that may be of use or general interest.
On Monday, 2nd February 2009, much of the South East of England ground to a slippery, shivery, freezing white halt. During the week that followed most of the rest of the country too experienced what we now regard as "freak" weather conditions. Rather amusingly I thought, the Met Office website was forecasting a further "significant weather event" for Friday of the same week, here on the Sussex coast that turned out to be no more "significant" than a heavy downpour of rain.
Many older ...

Album Reviews
JazzTimes (5/96, p.78) - "...the funky, contemporary title cut is the one that puts this album over the top, but the band also turns in some traditional styles, reflecting the make-up of the assembled group with ages that range over four decades....A `live' feel...is captured...allowing the spirit of the music to dance off the disc." Sing Out (5-6-7/96, p.149) - "...The Treme band plays in the new, rhythm-heavy street style, but its repertoire is a classic New Orleans blend....designed for serious, long-term dancing..."
