Giordano: Mala Vita

...How can I convince you that Filippa Giordano has one of the most stunning voices you will ever hear and that if you listen to the CD you will be carried away into a land of enchantment? “Never heard of her,” You are probably saying to yourself – but nor had I. I just heard her briefly on the radio and was immediately captivated by her amazing voice which is reminiscent of a graceful bird dipping and diving, soaring and sweeping over an ocean. I didn’t know her name or the name of the album when I went in search of it. But I was lucky because the assistant in our local music shop seemed to know who I was talking about when I asked about a sort of opera singer with a stunningly different and beautiful voice. Advantages: Good little Ep
Disadvantages: Well it's an EP, so only 6 tracks!

...East Infection is a 6 track EP by Gogol Bordello that was released in January 2005, some 6 years after the band's first release. They obviously polished their sound during that time because there is a much more cleaner sound to this little EP. This little EP is incredibly experimental though, the 1st track East Infection is chaotic, quick and catchy with short parts of what seem to be jazz guitar, Ave B. without doing anything particularly special is a pleasant gypsy acoustic styled song to listen to, not too heavy this one, Mala Vida is upbeat and sung in spanish, it has a very latin feel to it whilst Copycat is a weird track that uses reggae vocals on top of Chemical Brothers or Prodigy style electronica and features very humorous lyrics. Advantages: Good combination of songs, includes artists such as Ja Rule, Jennifer Lopez and Ashanti and Cadillic Tah
Disadvantages: Can get repetitive, could be more slow songs and more tracks listed

...I brought this CD out in America 2 years ago purely for the fact that I was into Ja Rule & Ashanti at the time. When I first listned to it I mainly just listened to the Jennifer Lopez & Ja remix of "ain't it funny" which was my favourite track, but as I listened further it opened my eyes to other artists such as Vita and the then up and coming superstar Ashanti. The Vita, Ja and Ashanti song "Down 4 U" which was released about 2 years ago is also a quality track. All in all I couldn't listen to this CD everyday and most of the time I can't play it all the way through I just skip to the two or three that I like. It all depends how much you like listening to practically the same lyrics to a different beat each time!... Read review
