Ah yes, the side project. The immortal words in any musicians life which are an attempt to make a bit more cash, sound a bit different and not really make that much of an impact of the music industry (with the odd exception thrown in for good measure). Well here?s one that will make you take note; The Postal Service, and their one and only album; ?GiveUp?.
Released in 2003, the band was an idea created by Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and producer Jimmy Tamborello. Anyone familiar with Death Cab For Cutie will know their electronic indie pop and The Postal Service take this to, in my opinion, a better level.

Advantages: Likeable performances all round and enough funny moments. Disadvantages: It's unoriginal and the direction is uninspired.
Dr Bertram Pincus is a curmudgeonly, misanthropic dentist who pushes away anyone that tries to get near him. After he dies for just under seven minutes during a routine operation, he awakes with the ability to see ghosts. Even worse, they all want something from him, especially Frank Herlihy, who persuades Bertram to try to break up the impending marriage of his widow Gwen. Gwen and Bertram are neighbours and she considers him "a little bit of a jerk". Despite himself, Bertram starts to warm to Gwen. With a bit of help from the recently deceased, he learns some valuable lessons about life.
Writer-director David Koepp is better known for his screenplays than his direction. It's clearly where his strengths lie if this film is anything to go by. That's not to say his direction is bad, it's just uninspiring. The film stock he uses is ...

As a fan of Soul music One of my favourite artists has got to be the legendary soul singer Solomon Burke, With a voice as big as his build Burke is regarded as one of the greatest singers of all time by fans, critics and fellow performers alike. This album is made up of songs written by some of his biggest admirers in the music industry. All the songs were written especially for Solomon Burke and this album Don't GiveUp On Me.
A diverse range of artists wrote songs for this album including the likes of Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello aswell as the album's producer Joe Henry who wrote the song "Flesh and Blood". Some well known songwriters there but will the album work well or not. well here are my thoughts.
