Billy Connolly - Love Him or Hate Him.

Advantages: Hysterically Funny
Disadvantages: Lots of Bad Language - not suitable for family viewing.

Billy Connolly is a comedian you either love or hate. I am one of those people who can go into hysterical laugher just looking at him. If you like things to be clean and politically correct, then this Billy Connolly DVD, like most of his other recordings, is not for you. I have kept it as clean as possible using "bleeps" where bad language is freely used on the DVD. I first became aware of Billy ("The Big 'Yin") back in the early seventies when a Glaswegian friend of mine played an LP of his. It took me a while to understand the thick Scottish accent and I was then in stitches of laughter all the way through as he rattled through anecdotes of his childhood in Glasgow, working in the shipyards and then on to toilets in aeroplanes and British Rail. I have loved to watch him ever since on his many television chat shows and I never ...

Review of Billy Connolly - Live 2002 (DVD)

Billy Connolly in stripes!

Advantages: A brilliant classic.
Disadvantages: No extras, play menu is a bit plain.

●Introduction● I think Billy Connolly is possibly the best comedian of all time. In Scotland Billy is known as "The big Yin", meaning he's tall. In this review I'll be telling you a little about Billy Connolly and a lot about his DVD, Billy and Albert DVD. I'll give you a quick outline if your not too familiar with Billy, even though he's known worldwide. This is my first review on DVD's so please be patient, and sorry if I accidentally give away any spoilers, but I'll try my best not to. Warning! This may have a little bit of bad language in it as it accompanies Billy and Billy wouldn't quite be Billy if he didn't swear. Billy Connolly was born on the 24th of November 1942, in Glasgow. He was brought up in the Anderton and Patrick areas of Glasgow. If anyone reading this lives in these area's I'd be so jelous. When ...

Review of Billy And Albert - Billy Connolly Live At The Royal Albert Hall (DVD)

Billy Connolly

Advantages: Extremely funny, well written.
Disadvantages: You should read 'Billy' before reading this!

'Bravemouth' is the sequel to the extremely popular 'Billy' also written by Pamela Stephenson. The first book detailed the life of the enigmatic comic and described his awful childhood where he faced abject poverty and abuse, both mental and physical from his family. 'Billy' was a fascinating read and captured the spirit of Billy Connolly by the only person that probably knows the real him, his wife. 'Bravemouth' is an extremely good follow up to 'Billy' as it describes a year in the life of Billy himself as he struggles to come to terms with his rapidly approachin 60th birthday. The reader is drawn into a world of international travel and high class comedy. We follow Billy as he takes part in blockbuster films, travels to Africa for Comic Relief and just comes to terms with his increasing years! This book is an extremely personal ...
