He started to learn how to play the trombone and had such a love for music, he joined the Ben Pollack Orchestra, where he started to write his own music. Glenn also played with people like Benny Goodman and Ray Nobel. In 1937, he formed his own band, playing at some hotels, on the radio and did some recordings. He formed his own Orchestra in 1938, this Orchestra became the core to what we know now as the Glenn Miller Orchestra. This is when he won his first Gold Disc for "Chattanooga Choo Choo". During the was Glenn helped the war effort. His last public proformance was in 1942, when he joined the army and was assigned to the Army Specialist Corps, he then transferred to the Army Air Corps. ...House music doesn't get much better then this people opening with the hugely popular Sing by praise cats these c.d's are remarkably mixed with a blend of pure genius to put a smile on your face delivering storming tune time and again banassi gets the blend just right to get anyone shaking the booty, with names such as Dave Clarke and who da funk on the track listings the c.d delivers all the way. The first disc starts all nice and up beat and gradually gets heavier until the end although never coming to a point were it becomes to hard its balanced just nicely and is nicely cut up. The second follows the sort of pattern with a good number of brakes on both the cds deliver a serious good mix for any fan of good decent house music, another cracker from Subliminal and Benny! ...Forget that this music is now 60 years old and that it's something that your Nan & Grandad would get up and dance to. This has class. This has style. This has cool before we even knew what cool was. This is in my top ten albums of all time, THAT'S how great the music on here is. The Glenn Miller Story was the name of the biographical film, starring James Stewart and June Allyson, and this has some excellent examples of his phenomenal contribution to the music world. It starts off with "Moonlight Seranade", a marvellous tune to smooch to. Cheek to cheek, a slow shuffle and you too can feel you've got gravy browning on your legs with a pencilled in seam. If you ever really want to, of course... Next is the well-known "Tuxedo Junction". Played by many swing bands over the years you can't match this track for sheer longevity... Read review
