By 1939, the band was the most popular in America and Miller was approached to make two films for Twentieth-Century Fox, Sun Valley Serenade in 1941 and Orchestra Wives in 1942 containing such classics as "Chatanooga Choo Choo", "Serenade in Blue" and "I Got a Gal in Kalamazoo". In 1942 Glenn Miller and his band were awarded the first gold record (sales over one million) ever presented by the recording industry for "Chattanooga Choo-Choo".
