Advantages: Amazing vocals, guitar playing, strong melodies
Disadvantages: Sadly a tendency towards blandness

to the Warner label and released his first mainstream hit, "Breezin", an instrumental, before finding his voice and a chart run that lasted for 10 years in the US and UK. Ever the jazz performer, Benson frequently used scat vocals in his songs and his vocals would frequently echo his guitar playing, a feat I personally found particularly impressive. The Album "The Greatest Hits of All" is the definitive George Benson collection, and one that features songs that still receive a fair amount of airplay today. Not everything Benson did was jazz however, as this review will show, but I felt that his best work had more than a hint of it within. Concert for George

Advantages: Excellent musical tribute concert
Disadvantages: absent friends

Excellent Concert held in November 2002 one year after George Harrison's untimely death. Disc One is the complete concert featuring an all star band including Eric Clapton; Ravi & Anoushka Shankar; Billy Preston; Joe and Sam Brown; Jools Holland; fellow ex-Beatles Ringo Starr & Paul McCartney; Travelling Wilburys Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty and Dhani Harrison, looking very much like his father in the 1960s. The vast array of George Harrison's work is featured as well as a wonderfully funny comic interlude by members of Monty Python singing Sit on my Face and The Lumberjack Song. George Formby's I'll See you in my Dreams closes the show. The disc is easy to navigate allowing access to individual songs. Don't Get Frightened By The Band's Thrid Album Release

Advantages: Great Tracks Throughout, In A Different Style To Their Others
Disadvantages: A Few More Bonus Tracks Would Have Been Nice

In the album catalogue of The Band, Stage Fright is often seen as their third best album behind their two previous releases, and that is a far assessment, but in my opinion it is an album that is so different from their previous records that it is quite a difficult one to judge against their others. As an album, it has to be one of my favourite albums by The Band to listen to, but then I have always enjoyed the more rock based style that they take on here. And this is what makes this album so different to Music From Big Pink and The Band (The Brown Album), as it doesn?t contain some of their more folk/roots backing, instead moving into more guitar, piano and drums, which isn?t a bad thing, as they are equally as adept at this as they are at the backing used on their previous albums.
