Go Away White - Bauhaus

Advantages: A interesting story which is both funny and moving
Disadvantages: Not a film everyone would enjoy

...I saw this film recently and I really liked it. It is quite a quirky film, which is funny and touching at the same time. The film is based around two main characters in their 30s, Burt and Verona (played by John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph). Verona falls pregnant, completely unplanned, and then Burts parents make the surprise announcement that they are moving to Belgium.. 3 months before the baby is born. This news rocks the couples world, the only reason that they moved to that area was to be close to Burt?s parents. Veronas parents died many years ago, which she doesn?t like to talk about, and now they have nothing keeping them there, neither of them are in jobs they want to do and they live in a small, dingy flat where the lights keep going out. ...I was curious what Sam Mendez would do after Revolutionary road,a film that i thought was well told. I was rather unimpressed with his American beauty but after watching Revolutionary road and now Away we go,i have to say he knows what he is doing! Away We Go is a simple film.A film about an expecting couple looking to move away from their previous home to a new place.Burt(an ordinary insurance sales person)and Verona suddenly make the decision of moving away after Burt's parents decide to move away to europe just before the due date of their child's birth. The not so young couple have a few options and the treatment of the film somehow invites the audience to accompany them through their journey.Its a journey you don't mind taking,mainly due to the presence of such interesting characters.The character of Verona's ex-boss is truly... Advantages: Peter Murphy - cool as FCUK
Disadvantages: Maxell ad

...home building, architectural movement, band ? Bauhaus lived in the shadow of Joy Division. With the benefit of years to add perspective, Bauhaus still live in the shadow of Joy Division. Peter Murphy: lead singer: totally cool. Peter Murphy appears as cool bloke in advertisement for Maxell tapes = not quite so cool. Bauhaus now, long gone and almost forgotten, although I'm sure there must be a few die hard fans still out there. "Crowds", a haunting ballad totally out of kilter with the vast majority of Bauhaus' material still finds itself on my list of "Great Songs" winamp playlist. The rest, covers of "Ziggy Stardust" and "Telegram Sam" that were minor hits included are long gone and best forgotten. Bauhaus were I'm afraid little more than a flash in the pan.... Read review
