The Golden Years of Jazz Volume 5
Review of Golden Years Of Jazz Vol.5, The - Various Artists by  Martinscholes

Advantages: Great jazz tunes from the Golden Age
Disadvantages: None

...This is real jazz, from the real Golden Age of Jazz. It's got the pace, the rhythm, the fluid trumpet playing, the relentlessly enthusiastic, rolling piano playing and the clear diction of some excellent singing of vocalists who could not only hold a tune, but who could capture your heart and soul, too… There's musicians with such great names as Muggsy Spanier, Meade Lux Lewis, King Oliver and Sidney Bechet. You do not get musicians called Muggsy nowadays. I wonder why? As well as straight out jazz such as the Dippermouth blues, there's also the dreamy and melodic April in Paris from Charlie Parker. Some jazz aficionados reckon that Charlie Parker eventually sold out. Well, perhaps he did. But some of his earlier work still stands the test of time. Jack Teagarden is on this CD, with So Many Times, a rather nice, well... Read review

The Best Album
Review of Abbey Road - Beatles (The) by  BLUESY

Advantages: Every single song included, every single note I would even say.
Disadvantages: The price of this and every album by this band, at least here in Spain...and the fact that this album happened to be the last this band recorded (not released)

..., the feelings were the same. They Beatles were dying, slowly dying (and that’s why The Rolling Stones released their ‘Let it Bleed’ album). They finished recording lots of bits of songs, and gave to their producer, George Martin, the tapes. He declined to make an album from all that mess, so ‘Let it Be’ became the only album released by the Beatles not produced by George Martin, the fifth Beatle. It was this little weird guy, Phil Spector, who produced it. But, before Spector took those tapes and decided to produce an album, there was a contract. The Beatles needed a new album to release, and that’s the reason why they joined again, at Abbey Road Studios, in London, to record a new album, probably their best one, probably knowing it was going to be their last one as well. Martin told them the way to record it, just like as usual, with every one... Read review

It really is alright, in fact, it's very good
Review of Alright Still - Lily Allen by  MarcoG

Advantages: Good catchy tunes
Disadvantages: Some songs are very short

...Now, for those of you are familiar with my 'Top 10 things that annoy me' review, you would be forgiven for thinking 'Why the blinky blonky is he reviewing the album by someone in his top10 most annoying things'. To be honest, I don't really know how I came to put this album on my ipod. I had a long trip ahead of me and wanted some new music to listen. Now, I've had Lily on my iTunes for a year or so, and thought that that was the best place for it to stay, happily in my library, out of the my way of my ears, leaving me alone, thank you very much. I was always the first one to protest about how annoying and down right, blummin immature I thought that this girl was, due to the nature of her lyrics along the lines of 'haha I'm better than you, now you're upset and I think it's brilliant'...ahhh the youth of today. I thought she was a brat... Read review
